Do I need a Pack 'n Play? BTDT come on in!
We only really use one floor of our house, which is where the nursery is. I got a Rock 'n Play that I can use for nighttime. Otherwise, is there any other uses for the pack and play that Moms find useful?

I really loved having the pack n play when we went to other people's houses. It was so easy to just toss in the car and then set up when we got there to have a place for the baby to nap and/or play.

I used my pack n play a lot. In the begining I used the basinet portion When she got older I used it a play pen, especially once she was crawling. When I'd make dinner or clean up and needed a few minutes to get stuff done. I would put her in it with toys and I knew she was safe.

this is what i find best about it and she is only 3 mos. while we have the rock n play - that is het "bed" for the time being so i dont want to put her in it for non-napping or sleeping time. i loke her to know that when she goes in it, its time to sleep - not hang out. so having the PNP gives me a place to put her where she can stretch out - she is getting too big to hang in the infant seat

Re: Do I need a Pack 'n Play? BTDT come on in!
I think the only reason YOU would need it is for trips and things like that.
I had mine in my 1 floor apartment and never used it. I use it now in my house (2 floors) so I don't have to put DS in the crib when I need to do things, like use the bathroom, or even just need a minute if DS is getting into trouble. Sometimes I'll still put him in there if I'm cooking, and he won't get out from under my feet. The stove makes me nervous with him. The PNP is in the same room, so he's still with me. But he's safe.
You may not use it A LOT, but it's a great thing to have, just in case.

We used it a lot and we're in a 1 floor apt. It was perfect for hanging out in while we did things around the home. We brought it EVERYWHERE with us.

I really never ever used mine with my DS. My parents and ILs also each have one of their own (used) and they weren't really used either.
My DS will be almost 5 when arrives. I plan to use it this time around because he has so many small toys and I think that she'll be safer in it.

Re: Do I need a Pack 'n Play? BTDT come on in!
i dont use mine at home AT ALL. we set it up but we have a small apt and DD slept in the RNP til we switched to crib last night (at 8m!!). when she sleeps out she sleeps in the RNP.
however at MILs we use hers a lot over the summer in the backyard and at the beach. we dont use it in the house too much but we def got a lot of use when we were outside. not sure if we will use it as much this year since she will most likely be crawling/walking by this summer.

I used the PNP a lot in the lr with the bassinet and changing pad. I also had a cradle in my room that he slept in at night and his crib was in his room. I plan on doing the same thing this time too.

I used mine at first as a bassinet changing station, then as they got older, I would take it with us anywhere we went so they always had a place to nap/sleep!
I did not use it as a playpen, just a place to sleep, but I used it for my first 2 kids, and now that the 3rd is coming, it will get used again! Worth it for me!

Re: Do I need a Pack 'n Play? BTDT come on in!
When the pack n play is all put together, is it something that can fold up? The reason I am asking is because when I go back to work MIL is watching him and she has a craft room where I would think it would store nicely.

We also have a 1 floor house and never got one. I had not of the fisher price vibrating rockers that DD would nap in if we were out. When we've had to stay at hotels they always either had a crib or pack n play to use. I would hold off if your undecided. You can always get one after LO arrives.

I used mine mostly at the beach. It was nice to have a non sandy place for DD.
