Do I need a cake for a baby naming?
If so, what do I write on it? Thanks!

Re: Do I need a cake for a baby naming?
Yes, we are going to have one. I was thinking to say "Welcome Hebrew Name" but maybe something cuter if I come across it.
ETA: I don't think it's a necessity, but I want to have one.

You don't need one. It also depends if you're just sponsoring a kiddush or having a separate party. IMO if you have a separate party, I'd do a cake. Not necessary for a kiddush.

We did a kiddush luncheon and didn't have one. It didn't even cross my mind. There were cookies and pastries that were party of our catering package.

We are having a separate party. The service is at 1:00 and is private.

Re: Do I need a cake for a baby naming?
I don't think it's necessary, but for a separate party you may want one before serving dessert. A good picture opportunity and maybe to say a little speech since usually people quiet down when a cake comes out. You can do cupcakes too or whatever.
I have boys so we obviously had a Bris. I want to say the cake said Mazel Tov with his Hebrew name in blue and white decorations. Took pics in front of it with the family. I've been to a few baby namings and they did have a cake.

we're just putting her English name on the cake. Hebrew name would be too hard.

Funny you should ask this. Our dds naming is this Sunday. Private service with brunch. We are doing a cake that says Mazel tov and her Hebrew name (English spelling)

I think DDs said Welcome to the World her name and Mazel Tov! It had flowers and baby booties in the middle of it.

Speak with the rabbi. That's how I got my sin's Hebrew name. From who they were named for. You can make her Hebrew name from a relative you named for her
Can't go wrong with kosher deli.

The rabbi made some suggestions and we don't love any of them. I think we picked one (since the last post, lol). We don't love it, but we don't love anything we have seen.
Problem is that we are doing it upstate at dh's temple and there is no Jewish deli nearby. Looks like we will do bagels with salads. I panicked after my last post and made dh talk about it
I have DD's outfit, so even if the food stinks at least she will look cute! Lol.

DD1 wore a pink pettskirt and top with petti flowers on top for hers. DD2 is wearing a leopard tutu (it is chiffon so it's not too over the top) with a red beaded tank top and black lace leggings. I ordered her a matching personalized bib, burp cloth and pacifier holder. I can post pics tomorrow.
