Do I have any recourse? LONG VENT
The home behind me had a PVC fence. We only have a chain linked one. It was great because we got the privacy from it. We'll the house got foreclosed on and last week around 7pm they took down the sides but the back (that faces my house) was left alone..until 2AM LAST F*ING NIGHT. My DH wakes up and nudges me that he thinks we are being robbed because he hears loud banging. Turns out the fence was being taken down. We couldn't believe it. We check this morning and not only did they take down the PVC but they damaged some of our chain linked fence. Now we have a broken fence and a huge eye sore to boot. The rumor around the neighbohood is that the fence was put up w/out a permit and their next door neighbor reported them and that the husband and wife are going through a divorce and the wife is the one who took down the fence last night. Coincendentily we called a fence compancy last week to get an estimate for a small gate by our driveway and we were told they could do the job in mid-August....so even if I call to say I want to do more, the earliest would be mid-August. My husband went by the house to see if the foreclosure notice was still in the window and they took it down....we thought maybe we could call the mortgage company???? We also dont know yet whether we will be moving or not so we dont want to invest too much money until we know forsure but we think having this eye sore will make it harder for us to sell. ADVICE NEEDED.

Re: Do I have any recourse? LONG VENT
do you know the name of the company who took down the fence? can you find out?
if not, under these circumstances, I doubt you have any recourse. I am sorry this happened to you.
and IMO, if you're planning to sell your house soon, definitely get it fixed. a broken fence is not something a potential home buyer would want to see - esp in this market.
good luck

I have a few thoughts about your situation. I don't think you have any recourse. If you love the PVC fence, invest in one and shop around for the best price and quickest service. You can also hire someone to repair the chain link as another option. To be honest about your plans to sell, my house has a terrible fence and it didn't discourage me from buying it. I bought the house not the fence.
