Re: DMV/Ticket Question

I don't think so either. I think you are not only still responsible for the original tickets, but you get hit with the towing charge and possibly a storage charge for the car in impound.

oy!

if they tow your car, you have to pay for the tickets prior to your cars release!!Chat Icon

ets: PLUS you pay for:
1) towing fee
2) impound fee

Re: DMV/Ticket Question

Nope. My stupid DH had to pay all of the fines and the towing charge (over $700) to get an old used car out (worth less than $500).Chat Icon

Re: DMV/Ticket Question

well the thing is like 3 years ago we got parking tickets (damn alternate side parking)

and then they just towed DH's car. we said we didnt care and let them keep it.

i then donated MY car.

i perosnally recieved a letter saying I cant register a car in NY.... but i am not sure about DH.

needless to say, we want to get a car now.

Re: DMV/Ticket Question

They could have a bench warrant out for your arrest for the unpaid tickets and fines. If you were ever asked by a cop for your id whether you drive or not they could run it thru the computer and take you in and hold you until you make arrangements to pay what you owe.Chat Icon also they could be racking up charges for storage on that vehicle if you never went and got it back. I would check to see what the law is so you don't get a huge suprise when you least expect it from them.Chat Icon

That just happened to DH's coworker - it cost $500 to bail him out and he had to make arrangements to pay off the ONE ticket on his recordChat Icon
