DMV Name Change
???As of 12/ 31 I've been married for 3 years but never changed my name. Only my health insurance card has my married name.
I want to go to DMV Monday, what do I need to bring with me other than the form and marriage license? Can I do it without changing my SS Card first?

DMV Name Change
I did mine last December. I believe you need to change your social security first? I'm not 100% positive on that though? There is an online service you can buy to change everything for you as well!

Photo id (current license,) form and marriage certificate are needed. I changed my ss card after.
I was required to take a new photo and practice your new signature as you will be looking at it for 8 years.
If you want to change registration that is another form and you should be able to update voting information.

I remember that I had to change at Soc Sec first. That was in 2010, dunno if it's changed since then.

Thanks all. I was hoping I would just need my marriage certificate and photo ID. Do you get to keep your old license?
Looking like I'll be going to Long Beach first to get a certified copy since I can only find copies. SMH.

I went to SS first too then to DMV all in the and day...you must have your marriage license and a form of ID, I brought my passport

Did mine way back in 03, dragged my husband with me LOL Hey he needed to see the hell it was to change my name. I really didn't want to but did only so folks would stop asking if I spoke Spanish (and yes, they have stopped asking). I did my DMV then SS then the banks fun times!
I actually met a man who got married and changed his name to his wife's. So sweet. Said his father in law was like a dad to him. Since he had no sons he wanted to honor him. He and my hubby compared notes about he name change process! LOL
