Re: DmarieK - Dawn
Not good. He fell asleep when I gave him his bottle. I know that's not good...he should be awake when he goes down. I put him to bed around 10:15 and he was up at 10:56. I litterally just walked out of the bedroom. He doesn't know how to get down from a standing position so just sleeps and cries standing in the corner. I went in after he fell asleep for about a minute standing there to try and lay him down. He started screaming...I guess I scared him. He went down...put his head down for a minute and then popped it up again. He wasn't crying but I guess scared I was going to leave. He refused to put his head down so I picked him up and layed on the bed for a min and put him back in...sound asleep.
So basically I failed big time. I just hate knowing he's stuck and can't get down. Part of me wants to wait until he learns to and part of me wants to continue now.

Re: DmarieK - Dawn
I know how hard it is. I do...
If I miss Kristina's window I am in soooooooooo much trouble. I start watching for her signs that she is ready to go down.
Her norm bedtime is at 6pm.
Tonight she started rubbing her eyes at 5... I knew that I HAD to keep her awake, b/c otherwise she would be up in the middle of the night.
I fed her, and brought her upstairs for a tubby at 5:15ish....
Once she heard the water running in the tub she perked up, and between me giving her her bath, and me allowing her to play in her tub.... she was all done by 5:45. I brought her up and got her pj'd diapered lotioned combed, and ready in her room by 5:55.
I put her in her bed awake enough so that she was able to feed herself her bottle, but tired enough that she wouldn't fight the sleeping which she does sometimes now that she has learned how to cruise the furniture.
KWIM?
Maybe you should shoot for starting his routine out earlier so that he can get into a groove, and there is no chance of him falling asleep during the bottle feeding?
ETA: You are not a failure... it's very easy to think that. You are doing something new with Rylan that you are testing the waters with. You and he WILL figure it out! I promise honey!!!!!!

Re: DmarieK - Dawn
He was starting to get tired around 8:30...but that would normally be a nap for him...up by like 10 so I didn't let him sleep. I'm scared if I start any earlier he won't stay sleeping. Don't you remember my kid is the one who stays up till around 2:00am
I wish I knew...

Re: DmarieK - Dawn
Then maybe you can work on keeping him from a 3rd nap, and trying to get him on a better schedule of when his first 2 naps are.
For example.
K is up at 7ish
Her first nap is around 830 or 9
She will wake around 11ish
Go back down around 1ish
She's up by 230 or 3. That's as late as I will ALLOW her to sleep. If she's still sleeping by 330, I go in and wake her up.
That's why she's tired at 6, and goes down for the night.
Maybe you can try working on his whole day.... That may help you at night.
