Disneyland Dining

Any recommendations? Any must dos? I already learned about the dole whip so we are planning to have those as a snack.

Also if you have any experience with the bibbidy bobbity boutique - what time of day would you plan on going there?

I think she means disneyworld....but I might be wrong! Since she is asking about dole whips and bbb.

Bbb depends. You can book at the 180 day mark. It does book up esp if you want the castle so book early. It really depends on what you want it for. I have a 3 pm and a 530 CRT adr. I am not sure my girls will want to wear their dresses all day which is why I am doing 3. Others do an early BBB then a late breakfast at the castle. The castle is more popular than dtd location.

Re: Disneyland Dining

I meant Disneyland in California. I know they both have the dole whip and the BBB.

I have heard the BBB is good there though I have never done it Chat Icon i would think earlier would be better so the princess can be a princess as long as possible?

A tip is that you can eat in the tiki room - so get your dole whip while you waiting for the show then bring it in to eat it. It's a fun experience (and the show is a million times better than the WDW one - even the new WDW one) (You can also get the dole whip float - dole whip in pineapple juice but I prefer it straight up lol)

Re: Disneyland Dining

Hi!

I'm back!

We were the LAST flight out of JFK. "Sit down! the airport is closing!' I was SOOOO stressed but we made it and had a great time. Been home less than 12 hours and jetlagged.

You've gotta get a Dole Whip. At DL you can get them right outside the tiki Room and bring it in, which is great. Churros are classic and uniquitous and you have to have a Tigger Tail as well!

We ate at several of the top fancy dining establishments. Our best meal by far was Carthay Circle. The food was delicious, the setting was awesome and we were able to get priority viewing for World of Color, which is an awesome thing!

For a character meal, I think Storytellers probably has the best food. The best thing about Disneyland is that everything is SO close. We stayed at the Grand Californian, so everything was RIGHT THERE. For our first night (we had 2 different stays, one night in a room, 2 nights in a studio villa) we were upgraded to Theme Park View which was AWESOME. I don't think I can ever NOT stay TP view again Chat Icon

So short answer - I didn't get to dine everywhere I wanted since we weren't there for long but Carthay Circle is my strong recommendation.

We also did Blue Bayou (on Mardi gras!) which DH liked but I wasn't thrilled with. great ambiance though. And we did chef's table at Napa Rose which was a great experience but we enjoyed the food at CC more

Re: Disneyland Dining

When to do BBB would depend. I'd probably want to do it early in the day, head right to Royal Walk or Fantasy Faire (depending on when you're going) so she can get pics with princesses and maybe plan a meal at Ariel's Grotto for lunch. I would want her to be able to show off the dress as much as possible and be in as many pics as possible with the dress. I also for some reason like BBB before seeing a parade but DL does parades very differently than WDW.

One thing I learned at Disneyland is that no matter how many times you have been to WDW you can't assume anything about DLR. No 3 o'clock parade? blasphemy I say! Chat Icon

haha we LOVED Disneyland and even though we are passholders at WDW and it's obvi easier for us to go there, we found Disneyland was well worth the trip and we plan to go back. Maybe next fall for the holiday overlays

DL does do a mid-day parade... Soundsational. It;s at 4, though, not 3 Chat Icon During the week it is at night, so either you missed it or didn't go during the weekend.

LOL I saw Soundsational.

It's just funny because as a WDW person you expect there to be a 3pm parade no matter what, not a parade that changes times and isnt at 3 in any case ! Chat Icon
