Disney World for Adults

I know this is hard to believe, but I'm 28 and have never been to Disney and neither have my siblings. So, this year we are finally doing it... taking a childhood trip that none of us were able to as children (us and my DH). We're thinking of going in April and I have a few questions:

1) How long do people suggest going for?

2) Where to stay? (We are ages 29, 28, 25, and 21).

3) Any useful tips?

4) Drive or fly? (there would be 4 drivers)

And any other input would be great. We don't have a large budget (my bro. is still a college student and my sis. just came off a 1 year unemployed stretch)

Thanks!

ETA: I haven't looked through past threads so if anyone knows of helpful one, please feel free to post a link if it's easier than answering.

1. 5 days minimum

2. depends on your budget... I like wilderness Lodge and Post Orleans French Quarter. For cheaper ones, go with Pop Century. Also, unless you want to she beds or get 2 rooms, look into a family suite which is only available at All Star Music.

3. Go with a package and book through Disney. Don't get the dining plan. April will be tricky this year crowdwise - earlier might catch the end of spring break but Easter is really late.

4. I think that would depend on how much extra time you have and cost of gas vs airfare. with 4 drivers and splitting gas four ways it might make more sense to drive. A car isn't necessary on property, but it is nice to have.

And HAVE FUN... be a kid again.

1) How long do people suggest going for? DH and I went for a week in August. I thought it was the perfect amount of time. I would suggest 5 days min.

2) Where to stay? Best value for 4 adults, book one of the Disney villas. They have them at Saratoga Springs, Wilderness Lodge, Bay Lake Tower, Boardwalk, Yacht & Beach Club, Old Key West, etc. You can get a one or two bedroom suite which would fit you all very comfortably. I would suggest the Boardwalk. You can walk over to Epcot (for best food and drinks) and there's plenty to do on the Boardwalk at night after a day at the parks. Also, the dueling pianos bar and Dance Hall right on the Boardwalk are fun.

3) Any useful tips? I disagree with the PP about the meal plan. Food in Disney is $$$$$. The meal plan is less than $50 a day and well worth it in my opinion.

4) Drive or fly? Fly. Booking now you could get a decent rate and then you have full use of the Magical Express (free transfers and luggage transport to your Disney hotel)

Re: Disney World for Adults

We went last year and it was my first time ever going. We went the week of my 37th bday.

We did not stay on Disney property. We stayed in the town 5 min away. We had a 2BR apt for $79/night with a full kitchen, LR, 2 BA and a W/D.
And it was only 5 min from Disney.

We stayed for 5 days and had an awesome time. Even managed to get last min reservations to Cinderella's breakfast.

We did Disney stuff some nights and other nights we did things in town by the hotel.

We stayed 5 days and it was the perfect length of time. We did rent a car, so we paid for parking at Disney each day, although the hotel did have a shuttle service. But we wanted to be able to go wherever we wanted.

Personally, I would not drive. But that is because I drove to NC years ago with family and said I would never do that again.

In addition to Disney, we managed to get a day in at Universal.

Re: Disney World for Adults

1) How long do people suggest going for? You can definatly get everything done in 5-7 days there.

2) Where to stay? (We are ages 29, 28, 25, and 21).
Sorry- no reccomendation for that age group!

3) Any useful tips? Get to the parks early, wear comfortable shoes, get the fastpass for popular rides, plan out your days as much as possible

4) Drive or fly? (there would be 4 drivers)
I say fly. We've driven down about 4 times to FL and I personally hate it. Then again, the trip isnt that bad if you have people to keep you company and you see alot of sights along the way and try new resturants they dont have in NY.
