disney is overwhelming me
so every1 knows that i am going to disney in september, i am busy reading the guide book, and trying to figure out restuarants and such for when we get there to maKe reservations..
i feel so overhwlemed!!! My fear is I will be running around WDW feeling pressed for time, trying to get from ride to ride, worrying how hot it is, or if we will get to see everything, and then im worried that i dont even kno what we r going to want to see and how we will get to make time to eat if we are always rushing.. this is supposed to be vacation, im not supposed to be stressing this..
i have a question tho.. when do i make food reservations? from my house b4 we go on vacation? or when i get to wdw and i do it the day b4,
IM SO CONFUSED

It depends on where you want to eat. For example if you want to eat at Cinderella's castle during the fireworks (best view btw) then you should book that even before you leave as it books quickly. Others you ban book from the resort (if you are staying at a WDW resort) once you get there. The concierge staff is very helpful.

Re: disney is overwhelming me
We just went last month and didn't prebook any dinner reservations. If you can, I would do it from your home before you go. We couldn't end up eating at some of the places we wanted to, because they were booked. Leave a night or two open, so you have some more freedom and not so scheduled.
Don't get stressed, you will have a great time!

Re: disney is overwhelming me
In the guide it will tell you whether or not priority seating is reccommended. For the "hot" stuff you should do PS.
Don't feel overwhelmed. On my first trip, I went through the guide and highlighted all of the rides and attractions I wanted to see, I stareed the "must dos". Then, with the guide I worked out a plan for what park we'd go to on which day. Then we just went for it and had fun. I didn't really do the ride rush. I do recommned going to extra magic hours and getting fastpass for the BIG rides. Like at Epcot, you should go right to test track, get a fast pass and hop on line for mission:space. But the rest of the time we kind of wander around doing what we like. The only thing I find it really necessary to plan around are meals...like if you want to eat in the castle, then you have to be in MK that day, or plan when you'll park hop, and the nightitme stuff. There's so much going on at ngiht in different parks, so you have to plan carefully to see all of it.
Let me know if you need any tips. I can actually help you plan an itinerary if you'd like. I'm good at that

Re: disney is overwhelming me
call 1 407 WDW DINE and make your reservations for the places you know you want to eat... like said before the Castle. 95% booked in advance. Just relax it IS a vacation.
OH!! In Epcot do the 2 hour Segway tour. If you never rode one its a lot of fun!!!! You have to make resis for it. Not something you just walk onto

Re: disney is overwhelming me
In September you won't have to rish that much. In July yes, september, not so much
One thing about the unoffical guide is that they're CRAZY with their itineraries and planned abthroom breaks I don't go that crazy. We get to the Magic Kingdom, and we might grab a fastpass for the Space Mountain, go on all the other tomorrowland rides and work our way around. We decide what we want to go on when we get there, unless there's an E-ticket ride we really want to go on, then you have to do a little planning. But for examle, at MK, we just wander around mostly, going on whatever we feel like, and going around the hub. Animal Kindgom, except for trying to get on the safari and/or the rapids early (the rapids have a long time) we just wander around, look a animals and have a slow day. I'd squish an AK day in the middle bc it's more relaxing. On longer trips we also do a water park day....sit on the beach at tyhoon lagoon and have soem tropicla drinks...we sually do that on what used to be called e-ride nights, but is now evening extra magic hours...so you spend the morning into the afternoon at the water pakr, go home, shower, relax, nap, then go back to the magic kingdom like right before closing, and then go on all the rides during the extra magic hours

Re: disney is overwhelming me
If there are any special meals or places that you really want to go, call ahead to make reservations. The character meals are the ones that book the quickest and Le Cellier (at Epcot in Canada) seems to be the toughest to get into. You can call now if you want, they start taking ressies 6 months in advance. If something you want is not available, check periodically for cancellations.
You are going during a typically quiet time of year, so even if you change your mind midday, you'll find someplace good to eat.
Like someone said above, leave some spots so you are not running on a clock. You can always call to cancel.
Remember, Disney is not going anywhere so if miss something, you have an excuse to go back.

Re: disney is overwhelming me
I'm going to Disney in less than a month and haven't given any of this a second thought---you are making me nervous now.
I figured we would just play it by ear.

Re: disney is overwhelming me
You cna play it by ear, but I think you should plan some things, like at least a meal or two if you have someplace you really want to eat, or what park to go to on which day, when you're using extra agic hour...we usually plan one day for each ark so we see them all and then eave a few open days to do whatever we feel like doing
ETA: Don't worry abot the weather. bring layers, buy a poncho...lots of people, esp with litlte kids will leave when it rains, if you stick it out, you cna ahve the aprk to yourselves. Very few rides close in the rain. Going on haunted mansion during a thunderstorm was AWESOME

Re: disney is overwhelming me
when we went, the only things we planned were what parks we were going to and on what days. epcot - sunday, universal - mon and tues, etc.
if there are places you really want to eat at, make reservations now, otherwise if you eat in the parks, everywhere is good.

Re: disney is overwhelming me
Definitely book the reservations in advance for the meals you specifically want. Most people do that months in advance! Of course not me...

When in doubt, call a travel agent! That's what we had to do because I couldn't handle all the small details, I thought I was going crazy!

Re: disney is overwhelming me
Only certain things..lie the cinderella breakfast you need to call at EXACLTY 7am EXACTLY 120 days ahead. but other fun places like all of the epcot restaurants and prime time 50's, we just walked in.
You don't HAVE to plan meals ahead.
