Disney in the fall (Oct or Nov?)
We want to start planning a trip to Disney for the fall. I am due w/ our second child end of June. DD will be 3 & 1/2 in Oct. We will be taking two days to drive each way & 5 days in Disney. When would you go? For Halloween festivities? Christmas decorations? Or neither bc it will be less crowded. I don't really care if we can't do the water stuff & pools. Also easiest resort w/ kids? We don't mind spending a little more to have the monorail. TIA!

Re: Disney in the fall (Oct or Nov?)
As far as when you go would depend on what appeals to you more. My Dd loved the halloween party at 15 months. She danced with donald and a bunch of other characters and loved the halloween parade. The christmas decorations are beautiful to. DH and I went in Jan one year before they came down and they are gorgeous as well. I would see what appeals to you more. Maybe go onto youtube or look.at photos and see what you prefer.
With a car any of them are easy. But if money is not an issue, definitely the Poly would be my first choice, followed by either a tower room at the Contemporary or villa at BLT. I prefer the Poly bc it has different fun theming, nice pool, but I prefer their options for transportation. At the Contemporary you can walk to the MK, which is fabulous but it doesn't have as much of a fun feel. At the poly you can take the monorail to the MK, hop a boat there. But you also can walk next door to the TTC and hop the ferry to EPCOT. This is a bit plus at night bc when you stay at the GF or the Contemporary you have to take the monorail to the TTC then switch to the EPCOT line. But after the fireworks at the mass exit of guests everyone goes to the monorail, if you are at the poly you can roll right onto the large ferry and walk from the ttc to the poly, quick and easy! If you have a car you can drive to the AK or the HS.
WL lodge is one of the cheaper deluxes. It has a boat to the MK, and you can drive to the other parks to avoid the buses.
Otherwise since you will have a car you might enjoy the animals at the AKL with a car it would be easy.
If you need to be more budget friendly, there are the moderates. If your DD likes princesses they have princess rooms with headboards that show fireworks going off ( called royal guest rooms) at the Port Orleans Riverside (POR). The hotel has carriage rides, surrey bike rentals, a boat to downtown disney, etc. If you have a car you don't have to worry about the buses.

Re: Disney in the fall (Oct or Nov?)
Been there without kids both times (for christmas and Halloween celebration periods). Stayed at carribean disney area around Christmas, hard rock around halloween.
Honestly, both times of year are fine. I'd chose based on crowds.
As for resorts, I think the monorail $$ premium is so very high... And i was dissapointed at the quality of food & rooms that I'd probably go very off peak and stay at a neighboring resort where you can pay a quarter of the price and get a nicer room if you are driving down. SPEND the money you saved on extras: the hair boutique, gifts, nice dinners.

Re: Disney in the fall (Oct or Nov?)
Definitely go in November. They are decorated for Christmas in early November and it is NOT crowded. We are going down on November 9th or 10th this year. Driving as usual. We can make it down in one over night. It will be DS's 3rd trip and he is 3... We don't stay on the property. We rent a house or condo near by for half the price of a resort hotel. Our last trip in 2011, we got a brand new 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath condo in a gated community. We paid $500 for ten nights!! It was 10 minutes from DW... It had a heated pool and a play ground... Can't beat that....

Disney in the fall (Oct or Nov?)
Oct is nice........but Nov is pretty cold. I don't think I would go back in Nov, to be honest. But I like to feel a little warm on vacation.

We have been to Disney twice in November and the weather was beautiful. Mid to upper 70's during the day and a couple of days in the low 80's. The Christmas stuff starts the first week in November and that is when we are going this year. Lots more to do and see for Christmas then Halloween..

Re: Disney in the fall (Oct or Nov?)
They say the best time to arrive in Disney are the first 3 saturdays after thanksgiving. Not as crowded.

We're planning on going in October.
Mickey's not-so-scary Halloween party for DD, food and wine festival for us.
