Disney hotels

Can you recommend hotels with the easiest commute to the Disney parks? Aside from the monorail hotels that are super $$$$$. With 4 small kids I want something that is kind of convenient if I have to go back to the hotel at any point.

thanks!

We stayed at Art of Animation. Used the buses. We loved it!

Re: Disney hotels

I did a lot of research on this because transportation to the parks was a concern of mine as well.

I am going to assume that you are taking Disney transportation to and from the parks and not a rental car.

What you choose will depend on your budget and the parks you will be going to.

If you end up mostly on buses, you want to minimize stops.

For the values (the cheapest ones), Pop Century and (I believe) Art of Animation do not share buses. The All Stars do so I would avoid them.

IMHO, the moderates don't offer anything extra above the values when it comes to transportation. They all either share buses or are so large that they have several internal stops. Port Orleans French Quarter probably has the best transportation of the mods because it is small so you won't walk far to the bus.

For the deluxes: I would do either Wilderness Lodge with boat access to Magic Kingdom or one of the Epcot resorts: Boardwalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan, or Dolphin. All have boat transport to/from EPCOT and HS and I believe all are also walking distance. Might be 15-20 minutes but it's a pleasant walk on a lake and it's not as long as it sounds when you consider that you don't have to park, take a tram, do the strollers in and out of the car, etc.

We rented points to stay at Boardwalk Villas and I loved every minute of our vacation. 5-7 minute walk to Epcot.

HTH!

Re: Disney hotels

i stayed at All star movies and didnt have any prob with the transportation - we took the buses everywhere - with two kids and a jogging stroller and umbrella stroller.

yes it is nice to be on a monorail resort...but I wanted to do all 4 parks and monorail only takes you to two - so we would have to bus the other two anyway - I chose the value to save money and my kids loved how the hotel looked like we were at a park right outside our window!
