Dishwasher Help!

I ran the dishwasher 3 times yesterday, because all 3 times, the soap capsule did not dissolve. The cycle went all the way through, I could hear the dishwasher fill up, and the water was plenty hot. But each time I opened the door to put away the dishes, the soap capsule was sitting on the bottom of the dishwasher, totally intact. It had been released by the little "soap door", but was still in its wrapper on the floor of the machine, under my dishes.

Any ideas?

ETA: I tried the "Troubleshooting" guide that came with the dishwasher, but "undissolved soap" wasn't an option!

Re: Dishwasher Help!

Maybe that cube was defective. Did you try a different one?

i would think the soap was the problem, not the dishwasher. but i am not totally sure. i think if the water gets hot enough the capsule should dissolve.

I used to use gel caps too but I have since switched to liquid.

I cant remember why I ended up switching.......but this is probably the reason why.

I just wanted to throw in my two sense that you don't really need to close the little door thingy, it should still get the dishes clean.

I had this happen to me once. It turned out that something in my utensil basket was blocking the soap door. It was unlatched, but didn't open until I actually opened the dishwasher door. Of course I didn't realize that it hadn't been opened during the wash until after it went through two or three washes this way. Maybe it's falling out of the door as you are opening it? Seems like a long shot but it's possible.

Thanks for the responses! The majority of you blamed the soap - you were right. I ran the dishwasher for a FOURTH time using a different brand of capsule, and it worked just fine. I think I just had a defective capsule.

I can't believe I was so worried about the dishwasher; I never once thought the SOAP was the problem. Chat Icon

All fixed! Thanks again!
