disciplining a one year old??

How does one do it??

He is in the habit of "hitting" me and saying no. I have tried saying "no hitting" and "making nice" with his hand. I have tried bringing his attention somewhere else (which sometimes works but sometimes he just keeps hitting! Hmmm...not sure what to do!!!

Who does he hit friends, you, siblings?

I think its just a phase he shld out grow it. Meantime I wld just keep on doing what your doing now, reinforce good behavior, telling him no hitting, its not nice ect ect. Praise him when he is being gentle and playing nicely.

I think it depends on why he is doing it. My DS does everything for attention. He doesn't hit me, but will do things like pulling DD's hair. So, I give no eye contact, move his hands away, and move on to whatever we were doing. He usually stops, once he realizes that it isn't working to get my attn. I also prompt him to get my attention by saying, "mama", during other times of the day.

He is just hitting me, no siblings. My babysitter hasn't mentioned anything and I know he doesn't hit my mom when she watches him.

I do think he does it for attention. I will try not to look at him and divert his attention to something else.
