Disability Vent
Why is it that we would get paid MORE per week for Unemployment than we do for Disability???????
So, should I just get myself FIRED before I am ready to have this baby?

Crap. I was just looking at the disability for my job. Its nothing. How are people supposed to survive. Its like $170 per week or something like that.

You guys are lucky at least you get something. I am an independant worker and pay my taxes at the end of the year. As far as I know I am not able to collect a dime!

It's actually 5 weeks (or 7) because the first week is a waiting period. On top of that, part of it is subject to FICA. I love how this coutry views parenting.

FMLA doesnt pay anything...just holds your job.
I am not entitled to short term disability through my job so I get NYS disability.
Its $170 a week for a max 8 weeks for c section.

It is 6 weeks but you don't get anything for the first week because that is the "waiting period."
