Disability
When does your dr fill out thier portion of the disability paperwork? Before you give birth? At the hospital? Or at a follow-up visit?

Re: Disability
I gave mine in several weeks before I gave birth. Ask your ob when they want the paperwork.

I think it all depends. Some jobs offer short term disability as part of their "maternity leave coverage." Mine does, for example. I guess it's easier for them.
For example, if you're feeling rough a month or so before hand (or let's say you have a condition that causes bed rest starting at a certain time in your pregnancy), your doc may write a note for you that you can't be at work, and then gives your file and information as to your condition to your short term disability company. Then, you can still get paid.
My short term disability officially starts the minute the baby is born, (this is if I can still make it to work with no issues before my baby comes), and then covers either 6 weeks for a vaginal birth or 8 weeks for a c-section.
Last pregnancy, I went out a month before my due date and my disability started a month before the baby came.
They usually just bug the docs for the paperwork and info, so there isn't much you have to do....except maybe tell HR or start a claim with your disability company, if you have one.

Re: Disability
I am bringing the paperwork my job mailed me to the hospital. If they can fill it out there great, if not, I will have my OB take care of it after the baby is born
