DirecTV Baby Channel

any thoughts?????

we have a 'free preview weekend' this weekend and realized it last night. we just put it on when Em was in her jumperoo so that we could eat breakfast without a meltdown & she is enchanted by it....

we are contemplating it - so that we could eat meals un-interrupted...not as a babysitter...if you know what i mean.

What is it? Do you have to pay extra?

Personally, and this is just MO, I wouldn't pay extra for any baby channels. There are plenty of options (Disney, Nick, Jr, etc)

normally i would agree - but she is (not 100%) STARING at the tv... like the way she's obsessed with Moose... If Moose was on for like a SHOW - not just randomly...we'd be fine. But seriously, this was the first time we got through a meal without a meltdown (normally we do the exersaucer or jumper for meals and within 15 minutes, she wants out - right now - we're on at least 25 minutes or so and she's STILL in it). Normally, one of us is rushing to eat so that they can be the one to grab her and entertain her while we're eating. Thursday night was so bad - i just flat out stopped eating and by the time i could eat - mine was bone cold (and not really re-heatable).

it's 5.00 extra a month. My theory was that we pay extra for the football package for us, what's 5.00 a month so that we can eat meals with a happy baby??

I saw it this weekend too. I wouldn't get it but that is just because my DC are older. If she liked 5 bucks extra a month isn't a bug deal at all. But have you tried those Baby Einstein DVD's? They usually have the same effect.

Re: DirecTV Baby Channel

I would get it. 5 bucks a month extra isn't going to break the bank. I'm going to check it out to see if Time Warner has it. I love Nick Jr, but it seems to me that they keep repeating the same shows a few times a week.

DD loves Yo Gabba Gabba much to my dismay. I think its the Scary episode and on the Cool Tricks segment they had Adam who makes fart noises with his hands to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I think I saw it at least 4 times this week. I'm ready to throw something at the TV.

I tried to get DD to watch the Disney channel, but she wasn't in to it. Maybe when she gets a little older.

Re: DirecTV Baby Channel

We have Baby First TV and it is so much more educational than Nick Jr for kids my kids age anyway. It teaches letters, counting etc. I sit with my kids and talk to them about what is on and I swear they really get it! I think it is totally worth it. The production value $ucks but they have no ideaChat Icon

Re: DirecTV Baby Channel

Babyfirst TV is wonderful. It is so much more educational and age appropriate than Nick Jr and the other channels. I would say my DD loved to watch it until she was 16 to 18 months. It wasnt until she really turned 2 years old that she took a liking to Nick Jr.

She learned soooo much from Babyfirst TV. I am using it now for my 12mth old DS
