Direct Deposit into wrong account?
I am not even sure if this is what is happening but I was supposed to get paid (ach payment) into my account last wednesday. Well as of, about an hour ago the payment has not been reflected in my account.
I have been dealing with my company on this since Friday. I have been talking to Accounts Payable ( I am not payroll) and all they keep asking me to do is verify my acct info and to check my account. They say the payment has not been rejected.
I spoke to Chase (my bank) and they have no record of anything trying ot come through. SO I am concerned that somehow it was deposited into another account.
Meanwhile, I REALLY need to get paid I am not sure how else to proceed to expedite this.
Can anyone offer any insight or advice?

Can you put a fraud detection on your account to see if the payment was ever received by your bank? I think your employer would have to give you the info that they sent over to your bank to proceed with this. If the first person can't help I would ask to speak with a manager.

the payroll dept needs to trace it. They should be able to go back to their bank and do so once you tell them that you verified with Chase that the funds havent even hit.
The money is somewhere, it just needs to be investigated. They will find it. In the meantime, since there is a mistake that wasnt your fault, I would think they can give you $ and then work the issue out themselves with the bank. Why should you have to suffer, KWIM?

Thanks, this is what I am thinking. I am just wondering if I have to give them some sort of proof that it isn't in my account which is fine also - I guess I can give them a bank statement...
I swear this kind of stuff only happens to me

ITA. I work with payroll and if one of my employees had direct deposit and didn't get their pay, we would immediately call the company that cuts the payroll checks and have them trace the payment. If the employee needed their money asap, we would simply cut them a company check and void out the payroll check once it was traced etc.
I would speak with your payroll person directly and ask them to have the payroll company trace your paycheck/payment.

That is crazy! I am HR Director, in charge of payroll and if that happened at my job we would have cut you a check immediately! I would speak to the payroll manager or HR.

Your AP department needs to confirm to you that they sent the money to the correct account. If it was, they need to initiate a trace or pull back the transfer and resend or issue a check. In the meantime, they should give you a copy of the transfer confirmation page that you can give to your bank so they can look for the funds on your end.
If there was a mistake in the account information when they sent the funds, it can take a few days to get straightened out. Once the transfer is sent the money comes out of the company bank account so according to their books, you have been paid - that's probably why they are being blase about it.

Thank you everyone for all your help!! The information has been invaluable for me in drafting an e-mail that I will send out tomorrow.
I really hope they can resolve this for me ASAP!

I agree and i work in HR and do payroll myself...we would make sure the acct info is right and then cut you a check. I would be a little more aggressive about this.
