dinner time

I am so bored with our dinner rotation schedule! Please share your most loved, family friendly dinners. We don't follow any special diet, but we do try to limit red meat to once a week, and do a vegetarian dish 1-2 nights a week. TIA!

Re: dinner time

Was just complaining about this with my friends!
I have such a pathetic limited repertoire

with that said here's my boring list
Turkey tacos
Meatloaf with mashed potatoes
Meatballs and whole wheat spaghetti
Chili
Chicken parm
Chicken cutlets

I'd like to make shrimp tacos but I haven't yet attempted them

My sister just made chicken feta burgers that sounded awesome

We really like black bean and sweet potato tacos or baked taquitos topped with fresh guacamole.

Pretty much anything topped with homemade tzatziki! Grilled chicken, Greek meatballs with rice, homemade falafel over salad.

We tried a lentil salad last week that was so good. You parboil them, then toss with olive oil and bake so they're crispy. Serve over a salad of spinach and grapes with a simple vinaigrette.

Grilled Italian sausage is one of the few meats my kids will usually eat so that's in heavy rotation.

I've been making skinnytaste's Cuban black beans and rice a lot lately.

I get bored easily so Pinterest is my constant inspiration.

Thank you both! We pretty much rotate between-
ground beef tacos
shredded chicken soft tacos
pork chops
steak
chicken cutlet
pasta with homemade sauce & meatballs/sausage/ribs
lasagna
takeout pizza or chinese
hamburgers/hot dogs/chicken on the grill
pot roast
we always do a big salad and lots of veggies with each meal, so it's not exactly unhealthy- just boring!
Thanks for some new ideas

Re: dinner time

DH does the cooking and usually makes at least a few new dishes most weeks plus some staples. He's always searching for new recipes. During the warmer weather, he takes advantage of the grill a lot: different variations of burgers, hot dogs, grilled vegetables, chicken and steak. In the cooler weather, he makes a lot of soups, stews, roasts and chili. The kids also love tacos (usually ground turkey), pasta/mac n cheese, rotisserie chicken and salmon. He makes pork chops or pork loin for them either when I'm not home for dinner or he'll make something different for me if they request that. The kids sometimes request breakfast for dinner. He also makes things that the two of us like, but at least one of them doesn't care for so we have other things on hand for them to eat.

I feel like we eat the same things often too. I also feel like we have been spending a lot of money on food/groceries lately so this week I decided to looks in the pantry and fridge and prepare some meals based on what I had.

I made a pasta dish with peas and bacon which was awesome and the kids loved. I also saw I had a bunch of cans of white beans and made a dip by Giada which was delicious! I am going to put more effort into doing this...food is just so expensive!

Pasta with sauce is a favorite of the kids.
Grilled chicken thighs with whatever veggie we might have (broccoli or asparagus usually) and either sweet potatoes or fries.
Homemade pizzas on the grill with salad
Soups, broccoli cheddar, butternut, chicken soup, sausage spinach and bean soup with a grilled cheese sandwich
Chicken sausage, peppers, potatoes
And I can't go wrong with serving them macaroni and cheese or ravioli. They love that too

Re: dinner time

I've been terrible at food prep and making dinner but here are some of my ideas:
-pineapple shrimp fried rice (also done this with cauliflower rice)
-beef tacos
-chicken fajitas
-chicken or cheese quesadillas
-ground turkey chili (crockpot)
-chicken chili
-spaghetti and ground turkey meat sauce w. Garlic bread
-breaded chicken, rice and beans
-turkey meatloaf with cauliflower mash and corn
-lemon chicken with roasted potatoes/rice

We will grill veggies, burgers and steaks for dinner as well

Thanks for all of these new ideas, I will definitely be throwing some of these into our rotation! Problem is we don't like ground turkey, and we try to limit beef to once a week. So things like chili, meatloaf, burgers, we won't do more than once a rotation.

Ground chicken is much better tasting than ground turkey and a lot leaner too

Pasta with peas and bacon is one of my favorites and I've never heard of anyone else making it besides my mom and me!

Another good bacony pasta is Rachael Ray's pasta with bacon, cheese and tomatoes.

I've been going through the same thing lately. I've been using a lot of recipes from Skinnytaste to change things up and I've been really happy. Some of our favorites so far have been the Sicilian Rice Ball Casserole, Eggplant Parm Stack, and Orechiette with chicken sausage and broccoli (I used a different pasta).
