Digital Photo Converter
Does any one have one or used one? Im interested in getting one just not exactly sure what I should be looking for.
My gma had a lot of old photos that I would like to turn into digitals.

Re: Digital Photo Converter
I guess its like a scanner, but now they have a special one for photos where it converts actual photos into digital photos.

Re: Digital Photo Converter
Sounds like a standard flatbed scanner to me. I've had one for decades. There's nothing special about taking a hard-copy and scanning it into your computer with a flatbed scanner. You can then tweak the photo using any photo editor you like.
Many of the better scanners have a negative scanner, so you can scan the original negatives, but again, those have been around for decades.

Re: Digital Photo Converter
I would skip the digital photo converter and get a flatbed scanner, you'll be able to do more with it.
Find a scanner that gives you a histogram during the scanning process, the more color and exposure corrections you can make during the scanning process the better. You can make adjustments in photshop but if the info does not exist in the first place you cannot create it out of nothing. If you have a histogram in your scanning software you'll know before you scan it if it is a good scan or if you need to make adjustments to the scanning properties.

Re: Digital Photo Converter
Bed Bath and Beyond has one for $99 ...
VuPoint Solutions® Digital Photo Converter link
BUT I agree with the previous posters, this seems like a complete waste to me.
It scans pictures that are 3" x 5", 4" x 6" and 5" x 7" ... which means if there are old 8" x 10"s, you are out of luck!

Yeah, that is a big waste. I use my scanner for non-photos as well. All the documentation for my home reno project is scanned. Anything that I want to keep permanently is scanned. It becomes a photocopier at that point.
