Digital Camera Help

I think I'm looking to get a new digital camera - not an SLR or anything like that - a more modest camera.

I have an older SONY Cyber-Shot 3.2 Megapixels that is breaking...is it worth it to get it fixed or to just get a new camera?

Any suggestions on digital cameras?

Anyone have the HP 7.0 MP Powershot?

Any reviews of your cameras would be great!

Thanks!!

Moe - know you love your Olympus?

Re: Digital Camera Help

I had an older Olympus 3.2...needless to say it's seen better days.

Recently, an excellent photographer on here - GreenfreakChat Icon recommended a couple of Canon Powershot cameras and a GREAT vendor to buy from. Soooo...I just bought the Canon 710 IS Powershot. It's 7.10 megapixels and 6x optical zoom. It came in only two days from B&H Photo. I've been playing with it every chance I get...so far I LOVE it!

HTH!

Re: Digital Camera Help

What size camera are you looking for? Just to carry around in your pocket?

The SD's are definitely pocket size. ~ 89.5 x 58 x 25.1 mm inch

The A's are bulkier, but have more manual settings. ~ 97.5 x 66.5 x 41.2 mm

The IS's are the upper end point and shoot and are the biggest. ~ 113.4 x 78 x 75.5 mm

If you are absolutely against the Digital SLR, the Canon Powershots are the way to go. As for B&H, I can't say enough about them. Great prices! Check out their internet specials & their open box specials. My co-worker picked up the same camera I have with a warranty for hundreds of dollars less because it was opened & returned.

Thanks everyone! Barb, I'm not so "against" the SLR, just more camera than I need and more than I'm looking to spend right now. COuld you give me the website for B&H?
Happy birthday, btw!

Thanks everyone!

Re: Digital Camera Help

My dad dropped and broke our digital camera just this weekend so we went shopping for a new one!
We got the canon 750 (it is from the elf series) so far I LOVE it and I dig the feature that allows us to take continuous pictures and that it allows us to fix red eye right in the camera!
