Difficulty breathing while laying flat?

Whenever I lay down on my back, I find it hard to breath "normally"; I end up taking big deep breaths...

It almost feels like someone is laying on top of me.

Its easily fixed by laying on my side, but I found it odd...
Im assuming it has to do with the baby's position???

Anyone else?

by laying on your back, you are cutting off an artery (or something, maybe not an artery, but SOMETHING) that leads to your heart... it's normal to have issues breathing. a close friend on here had a similar issue towards the end....it was her body's way of letter her know NOT to lay like that!

the baby is 100% fine - it's a problem with OUR body layout!!!

Wow- scary...I dont remember going through this with my first....

I was a belly sleeper.... I was able to pull it off up until about 3 weeks ago...so getting comfy at night is sometimes a challenge...

Looks like Ill be sleeping on my side..

I just asked my Dr about this, b/c I find myself waking up on my back... She said if you lay flat on your back, the weight from the baby is compressing Your Aorta!!! But even if you put a pillow under one side to off set yourself you will be ok..Just don't lay directly flat on your back, tilt a little..Chat Icon
