Different diapers better for girls vs boys?
Just wondering...my Mom wants to start buying diapers on sale, so that it won't be as costly once the time comes that we need them...naturally, we figure we'll buy pampers because that's what my whole family's used and loved...
but yesterday, SIL was telling me how "silly" it is for us to do that, because if I have a boy, I will want different diapers, because with HER boy, she had to try 4 different diaper brands before she found ones good for him...
is she just OCD or is there truth in this? I understand boys pee in front primarily and girls pee everywhere lol, but are different brands good for girls and not boys?
I really want to be able to take advantage of having my mom stock up...and if worse comes to worse, can't we always return them to exchange for diff brand??

Re: Different diapers better for girls vs boys?
My DH and I prefer Pampers over Huggies for our . My twins will be a month old on Tuesday and we have yet to buy diapers for them...we've been getting them as gifts all month long. We've been using the Pampers Swaddlers in NB and have been very happy with them (no leaks). We can't say the same for the Huggies. They seem to leak. I'm sure everyone will have their preference but this was from our experience.

DH and I were going to stock up but have heard from BTDT parents that it might not the best idea. They have said because 1. you dont want to have too much of one size depending on how the baby grows and 2. some diaper brands may not work for your LO and you may need to switch around.

Re: Different diapers better for girls vs boys?
Every baby is different, not just boys and girls. DD is very short and is in size 3s and wearing 9 m clothing (just started now at 6 m old) and a friend who is 3 months older than she is is also in size 3s for diapers but is wearing 18 m clothing. They are both girls. The friend's mom finds Luvs to work best on her DD. I like huggies (although they do run small) and I really like the kirkland brand from costco. Neither of us likes pampers but for different reasons (hers leaked, mine caused her to be extremely red).
At the very beginning, I used pampers swaddlers almost exclusively. Then I accidentally bought some pampers baby dry and I did like them (less red than the swaddlers).
Personally, I liked switching off a lot. So for me, lots of different brands was great. I tried luvs, huggies (little snugglers and snug & dry), pampers (baby dry and swaddlers), and target brand. I still think switching so much helped prevent diaper rash, but I could just be making that up.
