Did you know that UPS re-uses tracking numbers?
I ordered something online to be sent somewhere else and when I checked the tracking today, it said was delivered to Illinios and left on a doorstep.
Um, yea. Not even CLOSE to the state that it's supposed to go to.
I'm having visions of people stealing this stuff and being out a nice bit o green.
So I call UPS and they say, don't worry. That's a reused tracking number. Then I realize that the tracking information says that it was delivered on August 9th, 2007.

that happened to me when i was looking up info on a shipment from Toys R Us that i ordered during the holiday season. i was going  when the status said the pkge had been delivered 5 months earlier to chicago, IL

kinda not surprised... with the amount of shipments that go out daily/weekly/monthly I am sure there is a point that they get re-used!

Yea, they have to re-use the tracking numbers. There are so many shipments going out every day, if each package got a new number they would end up being incredibly long.

I agree. I think they might want to remove the old information from the tracking system though! 
On the website and on the voice prompts on the phone, it gives out the information from last year.
Perhaps some spring cleaning is in order?

OMG! That happened to me last week! I was waiting for a something from Babies R Us and when I checked the tracking it said it was delivered on 08/07/07 somewhere in Alabama! I was like

Oh wow, I had no idea! I guess when you think about it, it does make sense.

Yup, I used to handle claims/deductions at my old job and we used to have a lot of trouble tracking down packages when UPS re-used tracking numbers.
