We just switched to permanent cup with both kids. It makes traveling easier. The messes aren't as bad as you would think... And get better very quickly. We transitioned both kids from bottle at about 13 months.

Keep trying! I started with water so I could leave it out all day. They will get used to it!

I started offering it at 6 months and for a long time DS just banged it around and made a mess. Finally around 11 months he started to use it and by 13 months he was a sippy cup champ. I think they just have to do it in their own time. I would keep offering it but I would just use water (less of a mess to clean up) and don't force the issue. GL!

I didn't start offering it to DD until about 12 months. It took a while for her to get used to it, but she did.

Have you tried offering them water (for practice only) in a shot glass or a small red solo cup? That's how TT learned

we only use it while shes eating. And i had to make the hole bigger because i could barely get anything out... I do it a few times each feeding and shes starting to get used to it now... she wont try and do it herself. She plays with the cap or swings it around if i give it to her

DS is 15 months and we still use training sippy cups. idk if he necessarily hates them - but he doesnt drink from them. He turns them upside down and bangs them until the liquid comes out (even the spill proof ones) and then he splashes in them. Trying to transition him has been a nightmare!

It takes time. DD really didn't drink from it full time until around 15 months.

DS only took to the straw sippy but I can only put water in it, not milk.

Re: Did anyone's LO hate the sippy. Cup
Dd is almost 9 months and is also struggling. I tried a few straw ones. She does better just sipping from a regular cup. I did notice that on regular sippy cups, if I take out the rubber stopper she doesn't have to suck so hard, and so I've been trying to get her used to drinking from it by removing the stopper.

LOL this sounds like my DD too. She thinks the sippy is a toy and loves banging it and chewing on it! I have to hold it for her and put it to her mouth to take a sip. Even then she spits it out 50% of the time and lately she pushes it away! I offer it with every meal and little by little she is getting better - she is 11 mos.
I have tried 5 kinds too.
This is the one we have stuck with so far. At first I took the stopper out and poured little sips in her mouth. Now I put the stopper in 1 side of it but not the other…that helps a bit. I also try to keep the water room temp, when its too cold she spits it out!
