Did anyone take a 2hr glucose test the first time?

Argh I just waited almost an hour for my appointment (which I don't really care about) but then I go in and they tell me its 2hrs not 1hr so I'm stuck here for the next 2hrs on top of it..I thought it was 1hr and if u fail its 3hrs?

I would double check that they gave you the right test. The 2 hour test for diabetes is for non-pregnant people. It has different lab values and that test usually requires you to drink 75 mg of glucose. The one hour test for pregnant people makes you drink 50 mg and the three hour usually makes you drink 100 mg. I would double check with the OB and the lab that they gave you the right test. With my first pregnancy, the lab screwed it up and I convinced my OB not to let me repeat the test. MY OB was furious with the lab when I told her what happened!

Thannk u so much for telling me this. I did drink 75mg, so is it possible they already screwed up? I go back in 15mins from now and ill make sure they are testing for the right thing..but since I drank more, is it possible that its screwed up already anyways? Argh I'm so annoyed

Re: Did anyone take a 2hr glucose test the first time?

I went in to give my blood after one hour and asked them if they were sure that I was being tested for pregnancy diabeties and they said yes..and I said I've never heard of a 2hr test for that and they said that apparently that's what my doctor put on my sheet..so I have no idea I just hope that I get tested for what I need and don't have to re do it

I guess your doctor does the glucose test differently? My situation was a little different- they gave me 75 for the 3-hour test instead of 100 because my OB didn't specifically write 100 on the script. I hope everything works out with you and that you don't have to re-do it...talk to your doctor Chat Icon

usually a 2 hour test is the non-gestational kind. i had to do that as part of testing recommended by my RE before we were pregnant...
