The lawsuit is ridiculous IMO. Besides the fact that there's no proof this guy was even injured at the restaurant, it's so far removed from what led to his death. I think there's a serious issue with the chain of causation. I'm surprised this even went to trial although I understand why the restuarant would fight this suit.

Most lawsuits ask for an exorbitant amount of $$. The attorneys don't think they'll actually get that amount. At least they're asking for millions where there has actually been a death as opposed to the cases where there's a relatively minor injury.

What do you think is worth suing for 10 million?
For death, it's the potential earned over a lifespan. Let's say he earned $500K a year, with a 20 year life span...
eta. I agree completely bogus case against the restaurant...

And if someone makes 30K that family gets squat?
Sorry i think that there should be some reasonable cap on these lawsuits
