I am helping plan my Chicago baby shower (my sister planned my NY shower). Basically because my SIL asked my DH for help throwing it...and he outsourced that help from me. It was kinda annoying to do my own invites!!! I am hoping they leave me out of most of it though.

I did. My mom was going through a lot and bc Im an only child, there was no one else to really help. I picked the place, date, and invites. Dh got the cake and decorations. My mom did the favors and menu with restaurant.

I am helping! I went to find the place and designed and sent out the invites and will be putting the favors together.
LO is a honeymoon baby, so I felt guilty for my family to have to throw be a baby shower less than a year after my bridal shower.
I love party planning so I am enjoying every second!!!

yes, I can get very anal about what I like/want. My IL's picked the venue, menu and paid for that.
I picked/did the invites
Made my favors (pics in album)
made decorations (tissue pom poms) although my friends helped
picked the cupcakes
picked the games (although my friend ran them)
picked the prizes
made placecards/did the seatin
Basically all the details I had control over and even though it was stressful at times, it turned out exactly the way I wanted.
eta: I did delegate to friends willing to help. My friend made an awesome diaper cake for example and others set up everything the day of. BUt if you like being involved, go for it!

I already made it very clear to my mom & sister that I do not want to be surprised. But of course my MIL wants to make it a surprise...oh yea, & invite neighbors DH grew up with but I do not talk to (and arent really keen on)

I would like to plan most of it- I don't necessarily have to know the date....but obviously on the day of if I'm involved in picking the place then I will know where I am headed to!! lol I want to pick the location and invites....if I come across cute favors I will probably send the info to my sister so she can feel involved, she is not the most organized person so I think she will appreciate my input to be honest (at least I hope she does!).
