Diapers? (reposted on Parenting)

Okay, I haven't bought any diapers yet because I haven't had my shower yet, but I was looking in the diaper aisle at CVS while picking up prescriptions, and I'm perplexed.

My sister-in-law swears by pampers, so I was gonna go with them. I thought the different "brands" of pampers was pretty much according to size, but some of the brands overlap reguardless of size, and that confused me more.

I saw "Swaddlers" (sizes NB, 1, 2)
"Baby-Dry" (sizes 1,2,3,4 and I think even 5)
"Cruisers" (sizes 3 and up)

So my basic question is what's the difference between them all, and how do you know which one to get? Also, how quickly do they move from one stage to the next. Would it be ridiculous to stock up on size 1? Do they move onto size 2 very quickly? Oh it's so confusing!

Also, does anyone prefer another brand of diapers? Why?

TIA!
Melissa

I'm not sure of the differences between the 3, but I'm pretty sure that Cruisers are for babies that are crawling. My boy's two weeks old and I use the Swaddlers and they're great!

A lot of it really depends on the baby. I wouldn't stock up just yet. You should try different diapers out because they all fit differently. I love Pampers and I started with the swaddlers. I used NB and 1. I felt 2 was a little too tight. I then switched to Baby Dry, size 2 then 3. Now I'm on Cruisers. I think they are in each size for a couple of months, but it all depends on the baby.

I used the Swaddlers for the first month or so. The Baby Dry are excellent - (especially at night). They seem to soak up the most. I swear by Pampers.

My cousin used Pampers for all her 3 kids and loved them. We also used them for my niece. We tried Huggies for her and she leaked right thru them. I will probably use Pampers too...

I started with Pampers Baby Dry size 1 (Nate was 10 lbs so we bypassed the newborn) and just moved to size 2. I recently bought a pack of the Pampers Swaddlers and although I like the stretchy waist band, the Baby Dry absorbs better. I wish they'd make a diaper that's a cross between the two.

BTW... the hospital gave us a pack of diapers so we didn't buy any until we went home.

I had John in Swaddlers and he stayed dry all night. When we used Baby Dry he woke up every hour or so and he was soaked through his onesie and his pj's. He is now in size 2 swaddlers and I still swear by them. I

My son was big.... and was out of 1s within his first week.

I used Swaddlers 1s with the belly button cutout... and then went to pampers.. He was good in Pampers 2 because I felt they were smaller than the other brands 2s, but bigger than all the other ones... (did that make sense?).....

After that we switched to the Wal-mart DUCKY diapers... (I dont remember the actual name)... Someon had bought them for us for our shower and I fell in love with them... They are pennies, and work phenominally--DO NOT EVER GET THE JOHN LENNON ONES... they spontaneously combust... LOL....

The Ducky ones we used for 3-4.. then we went to Huggies... ANd have been there since..

Cruisers I found to be a waste of money... as the normal size 3+ were stretchy as well...

My son started potty training in Pullups, and after a couple of packages, another mother in the Diaper aisle at walmart told me to try the Bugs bunny walmart brand pull ups... I LOVE THESE!! And they are 2xs cheaper!!

My son wears these during the day and Huggies at night..
