Diapers
We have been stocking up on diapers.. and as per a friend's suggestion started with size 1 instead of newborn diapers.. and another friend said this was a bad idea, that her daughter wasn't in size 1 until she was 2 months old. Just curious what everyone else has experienced. Do most babies never use NB and go right to 1?

NB only goes up to 8 pounds or so. I guess my suggestion would be to wait till closer to your last ultrasound and see where they are measuring the baby's weight at. My daughter was 9-3 at birth so we gave away all the NB diapers we bought. Womp womp :)

DS came home at 6 pounds and fit better in the size 1 then the NB because he was long. I would maybe get a small pack of NB and get more after if need be

Re: Diapers
DD was a premie, so she started in premie diapers, then went into newborn at about 4 weeks. She's now 9 weeks and still in newborn diapers.

Re: Diapers
no matter what size your baby is - the hospital supplies size 1 (stonybrook did anyway) - even for the preemies in NICU. They just folded over the top and they worked fine.
So I would say if anything get maybe 1 package of newborn - it has the cut out for umbilical cord so its a little easier than folding down the size 1 - but there certainly usable so I wouldn't worry.

LIJ does the same thing (supply size 1 diapers) so you can def make it work. dd was 8.5 and she never wore a newborn diaper

Re: Diapers
DS1 was a little over 8 lbs and wore NB for about 2 weeks. DS2 was just under 8 pounds and wore NB for about a month. It also depends on body shape, not just weight. I'd say either get a small pack now or just wait and if you need them send someone to the store for them.

You can always purchase new born diapers after your DC is born if you feel you need them- Another option is to buy a box of newborn diapers then exchange them for a larger size if you do not need them. You will probaby not know what will work best until your baby arrives.

I was told the same about NB diapers and my DD was in them for a good month maybe more. I would get at least one pack to start.

I would get a small pack. My DD was in them for almost 2 months because she was just 6 lbs. at birth.

Re: Diapers
The hospital only used size 1. We did use newborn diapers though for the first month.
I wouldn't stock up though bc you never know how long you will need what size. Then you just end up having to swap out sizes.
Also your dc may be sensitive up pampers vs huggies vs luvs vs target...etc

We are buying all different brands bc I've heard this.. So I'll mix a small pack of newborn in with the small packs of size 1 in a variety of brands.

My DS was born 9lb 4oz & was put in 1s at the hospital. He never fit in the NB size.
All depends how big your baby is.
