I don't know why people would call it a waste. We have 2 of them and love them! Totally blocks out the scent when the lid is closed and so easy. I know some people are bothered by the fact that you have to buy the specific diaper genie refills of bags, but it doesn't bother me. There are other diaper pails out there where you can just use a regular shopping bag. I have no idea if they work well though. We have been using it for close to 3 years with no complaints!

I have one and love having it.
Eat: I no longer buy the bags that go with it... Just use some regular scented bags and you're good... Google how to do this. Very easy.

Re: Diaper genie
I vote for keeping it too. When the lid is closed you really can't smell it. The refills are a PITA but as long as you buy them on sale they do last a while. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have it.

Re: Diaper genie
we have one in DS' room and it makes it convenient to throw the diapers in there especially in the middle of the night so I don't have to go downstairs to the kitchen trash to throw it away... BUT we only use it for pee diapers, and don't put poop diapers in there because it smells! We have to throw them in the garbage pail outside in a separate bag.

Loved mine. Worked great, never smelled, and did a great job of keeping all this yucky diapers contained.

I didn't want to keep buying the inserts.....
got the diaper champ, it uses a regular tall kitchen 13gal bag...... Honestly it keeps the smell contained durring the day. I won't lie - when you flip the top over for the diaper to go in, you might get a whiff of the inside.... and when you go to take out the bag, it really smells.

Re: Diaper genie
LOVE mine. LOVE it I have no desire to carry ****** diapers through my house to dispose of them. With this I change her, pop it in the genie that is right next to the changing table and done. No sight, no smell
And DH is in charge of changing the liners when it gets full!

Re: Diaper genie
DH and I actually got one as a shower gift and we set it up and have yet to use it, we just put all out diapers in our kitchen garbage and take it out every night. We live in a small apartment and we found its not worth it to use it.

Re: Diaper genie
I didnt have the best experiences with it. I had 2 of them for DS because the 1st one broke. I didnt find that it helped control the odor, in fact we were limited where we could put it because it smelled so bad. However, I dont think there is a diaper pail on the martket that can control the odor completely. The refills are expensive and dont last long, but a PP said there is a way around that.
