diaper changing spin-off: using powder

ok, so traditional talcum powder is out (becuase it's a respiratory irritant)...

what about corn starch-based powders?

yay? nay? opinions? experiences?

Yes, that is correct. you can buy the corn starch based one. (the one with the green writing if you're using J&J). It works beautifully.

Re: diaper changing spin-off: using powder

I'm a burt's bee's addict.... and bought mama bee and baby bee products last weekend... The baby bee products we're a diaper cream and a corn starch-based powder....

After reading the diaper changing thread, I just wanted to double check that corn starch is still ok, and I didn't miss something!

I'm glad to hear that those powders worked for you....

They were terrific! Both of mine had horrid diaper rash no matter how many changes you gave them or whatever you used. that powder helped tremendously. Ds still has me squirt some in his underwear if his tush gets sweaty. lol

Re: diaper changing spin-off: using powder

I don't plan on using it, but if diaper rash becomes a big issue, then I'll try the cornstarch based one. I've also heard that there may be a link to use of powder and cervical cancer in girls. I don't know if the research is really out on that one though.

I have not used it on my DS, but I do have a bunch of it. My mom swears by powder and believes it keeps away diaper rash. She always uses it with my nephew.
