DH's idiot friend responds- the saga continues UPDATE
So the idiot calls DH today and apologizes for offending me. DH says he should apologize to me.
So tonight I get an e-mail from the guy. No apology, but insisting he didn't offend me. Furthermore, he accuses me of maliciously attacking him DH and I can't figure out what he was talking about.
So I respond by seting some of the facts straight. He wrote that I involved his current gf in our last incident. He *FORGOT* she was at dinner with us AT the last incident. He thought it was his ex
Then I conclude "I guess I don't really understand the purpose of your e-mail. Are you trying to keep this argument alive by accusing me of "malicoiusly attacking" you? Where do you hope to go from here?"
DH wants to call him, but is too upset now. I am SO MAD!!
UPDATE: So I get another e-mail this morning that his first e-mail was to "clear the air" and pretty much focuses on how he didn't intend to offend me. I swear, this is a line from it " Can there be a remote possibility that my statements although fitting your description do not and did not correlate in that manner in my head... or do you contend that you can also psychoanalyze and discern my thoughts and speech patterns."
And he still insists it was his ex at that dinner, it wasn't and I can prove it- but I have no need.
So I just responded a shorter e-mail. Instead of addressing each point (like the lawyer in me would). I ended it like this: So let me ask you this, do you think the air is clear? Because all you have done was accuse me of "maliciously" attacking you, without giving me any example of how I did so. You still have not acknowledged that you did offend me, even if you didn't want to, and you still haven't apologized. So until you are willing to do those things, please don't e-mail me anymore.

I truly don't get this guy....first off he sounds very immature & I'd just keep my distance & be civil for DH's sake; but I would just keep my calendar busy the next time he wants to go out (DH should understand).

Totally agree. Why even bother to continue responding to his emails? He clearly does not get it, so I would drop it (and him) and move on. He clearly is not worth the fight, and your DH should be aware of that now, based on this guy's behavior.

Well done on the email. I hate apologies that aren't apologies. Very annoying.
You handled it perfectly. It's a shame that DH is upset about it. He can continue to have a friendship without you, no?

Well I told the guy that I will never hang out with him again, so that does make things a little tricky. But to be honest, I hope he chooses not to be friends with this guy.

What an idiot!
I wouldn't want to hang out with him either. Hopefully your dh will see what an @ss he is and end that friendship.
