DH and BD

DH cannot BD everyday around O time. He does not 'produce' as much sperm and also it does not ''perform" as it should when we try to BD everyday around O time. This only started to happen a couple of years ago when he turned 30.

His SA results came back great. I use CBEFM and I was at peak twice (Friday and Saturday) followed by a high day and today was low. We only BD early Friday morning. Due to DH's hours he was exhausted and unable to do anything Sunday morning so we only BD one day around O time.

So my question is is the fact that DH has to recover to BD is that considered a problem when TTC?

I have my first RE appt in a couple of weeks and will ask the RE about this but was wondering if anyone has this issue, if it is one and what can be done about it?

Re: DH and BD

Is DH having trouble getting/keeping an erection during that time? Or he just can't finish?

I think there's a lot of pressure on our DHs to BD basically "on command" when we are ovulating - and that can affect them both physically and psychologically.

You probably O'd on Saturday - so BDing on Friday was good timing. Have you tried BDing every other day? Or is that still too much? How much time does he need to recover?

I think it's definitely something you ca bring up with your doctor. I posted a similar issue with DH being unable to finish around O time since that happened 1 or 2 months and some people thought it could be ED. We haven't had that issue since though and have more on to fertility treatments so it's a little different for us now.

I think they say it takes 36 hours for the sperm count to replenish also.

HTH!

I think its a combination of both. When we attempt to BD everyday around O time, he can finish but not much comes out. He also has a hard time keeping an erection so it takes him alot longer than usual to finish. But it isn't the case when we BD every other day.

Every other day is good for him. I was just wondering if this is a problem or not. Before TTC this wasn't a problem at all and I think he feels pressured to perform when I tell him we have to BD today...

We're not at that point anymore b/c it doesn't matter when we BD b/c we're doing IVF and FETs, but I think we could all tell you that at one time or another we put that 'pressure' on our DHs.
You may want to try (if you can) NOT telling him that you're Oing and just BDing for fun- it will take the pressure off of him and you may have better results. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: DH and BD

Every other day should be sufficient, alot of doctors will say every day is not good b/c it doesn't give enough time to build up the mature sperm.
