Detox?

I am not one to do fad things really but I feel like after all the crap I have eaten and drank I would like some kind of detox for a few days. Is there such a thing?

I don't want any crazy concoctions though. Just maybe some kind of clean, detox food or drink plan. Chat Icon

Re: Detox?

I drink this tea called Trim Maxx. You drink it around 11:00 and by 6:00 you get really bad stomach pains, you go to the bathroom and you literally feel lbs thinner. Not the greatest idea but it works for me. Good luck

Re: Detox?

I still had 15 pounds that just wouldn't budge and seemed glued to my body. I picked up a 'Women's World' magazine at the grocery store and it had an article in it labeled "Lose 5 lbs. Today". It's based of the book "Fat Flush for Life".
You make the drink with the ingedients listed and one hour you drink 8oz. water with 1/2 a lemon or 1 tbs. of lemon juice. And then the next hour you drink the detox drink you made. It's tough not to eat throughout the day but it works. I take one day a week and do the detox until these 15 pounds are gone! Here is the drink recipe:

"Holiday Detox Juice"
-8oz. unsweetened cranberry juice
-1 cup unsweetened 100% pomegranate juice
-7 cups of water
-1/2 cup orange juice
-1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
-1/3 teaspoon ground Cardamom (in the spiice isle at grocery store)
-a pinch of ground cloves

In a 3 quart sauce pan, heat the juices and water to just boiling. Reduce heat to low; stir in spices and simmer for 5 minutes. Warm juice before drinking. Makes 9.5 cups.

Sample drinking schedule:
7am - 1 cup lemon water
8am - 1 cup detox juice
9am - 1 cup lemon water
10am - 1 cup detox juice

And so on...

Hope this works for you. I lost 5 pounds the first day i tried it. I will do it again next Monday and hopefully hit my 15 pound mark and then i am happy.

How did that drink taste? The spices don't sound too bad. Do you drink it cold?

Do you eat any food or just drink that and lemon water all day?

the healthiest thing to do to detox (without starving and losing necessary nutrients and vitamins) is to "eat clean," meaning, you don't eat anything that is processed.

You eat just fresh veggies and fruits, nuts, and seeds.

(some do this raw, but others do it cooked, also)
you will lose weight, get shiny hair, clear eyes, sleep better, clear glowing skin, and feel good.

eta: i bought a food dehyrdator in bed, bath and beyond, and i slice up apples, pears , strawberries, etc and let it dry it out and munch on dried fruits for a healthy snack...

i've almost made little "pizzas" with the base as eggplant, with chopped tomato, sundried tomato, cilantro, basil, oregano, and garlic...delicious!!

and i've made stuffed mushrooms with a pesto (no cheese because I was trying to be super healthy), with fresh basil, olive oil, pine nuts, walnuts, and just a bit of lemon juice -- so tasty!

and "chips' out of zucchini (with spices on top)

what else...corn chips (corn in food processor, with red bell peppers, spices)

sweet potato "fries"
flax seed crackers

and a bunch of other tasty treats.

if you freeze a banana, or strawberries, and you use food processor to a creamy texture , it tastes just like ice cream!

(i'm a vegeterian, but i've also been vegan before, and experimented with being a raw foodist for awhile)

i'm going back to raw, as I lost about 8lbs a week, never felt hungry, and felt so amazing.

yes, the liquid detox will work, but you are mostly losing water weight, and it can make you hungry, cranky, and not able to focus...but, if you do a juice "Feast," you are nourishing your body, while feeling full...(you can make carrot/apple juice...orange/lemon, anything you wish...i'd just ease into the green drinks slowly, because while they are the best health-wise, it will make you want to throw up if you rush into it.)

sorry for such a long response, i just love stuff like this!

Re: Detox?

Thanks Rileysmama. Interesting stuff and I think more along the lines of what I was looking for.
I'm not looking for a quick fix because I know that tends to be water weight but I almost want to nourish my body without cooking or "eating". So do you think doing juices or something for a day or so would be OK?

I can't begin to explain how "dirty" I feel for lack of a better term. Blech!

Yup, doing juices will keep you feeling nourished and invigorated, and I've read that consuming fresh squeezed juice gives more benefits than just eating a fruit. The pulp is filled with fiber, which is great for weight loss.

I know how you feel - about feeling "dirty" - especially after the holidays!

So instead of liquid fasting, "they" refer to it as juice FEASTING, because you can drink a lot without penalty.

I have a Jack LaLanne Juicer; it is pretty good. You definately will feel full, but some people miss the act of chewing.

Juicing is safe enough to do permanently, or for 3 days.

here is some more info for you :) Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Detox?

My doctor uses her own version of the Lemon Cleanse, which you can find online. Her version is not as harsh and she does not suggest giving up eating other foods. I had a hard time doing it because of heartburn but I was amazed at how good I felt otherwise. I won't do it again b/c the heartburn was pretty bad.

Re: Detox?

I don't have a juicer so I got Naked juice. I think it's as close to juicer juice I can get. There is nothing extra in it.

I hope I feel better after this. I am just beyond right now, beyond.

Re: Detox?

What about mixing apple cider vinegar with water? You're supposted to mix 2 teaspoons of the vinegar with a glass of water and drink it before each meal. It helps with weight loss, makes your skin glow, curbs you from eating unhealthy...etc. There are lots of benefits from it. I just started today.Chat Icon
