Derek did the head shaking think again today...
The first time he did it was Jan. 18th and he has since only done it 4 times (4th time was today). We have a ped.neurologist appt. next week. It only happens as he is drinking a bottle falling asleep. You can't even see his head tremoring, I can only feel it as his head is laying in my arm as I'm feeding him. Once I move him or take the bottle out of his mouth, he stops immediately.
I know they will do an EEG but I dont know what else they'll do. I am so nervous..what if it is a seizure disorder or something bad I feel like if it was that it wouldnt just happen as he was falling asleep drinking a bottle and it would have happened more than 4 x's in the past 2 months.
ETA: We are seeing Dr. Atluru at Winthrop Pediatric Neurological Assoc.

A seizure disorder would be highly unlikely as a seizure doesn't stop when you move someone (its more a cascade of abnormal electrical activity, think of it like waves).
Hope you get some answers soon.

I agree with the above and I hope you get resolution soon. I can imagine this must be so stressful.

Just wanted to let you know that my daughter has seen Dr. Atluru and she is wonderful. Very patient and kind. We saw her for speech apraxia issues. Good luck. I'm sure everything will turn out fine.

Thank you I feel if it was seizures or anything serious he wouldnt be hitting his milestones and it would be other than when he is falling asleep drinking a bottle.
My dr. feels it is him either entering in REM sleep or an immature nervous system...he said all infants have jerks, twitchs, tremors, etc. when they are sleeping (I think they are called myclonic movements). But just get it checked out for piece of mind.

Crissy, I am a super huge worrier. I honestly don't think this sounds like it is anything bad. I think I remember T doing similiar type shaking when he was an infant. I'm sure everything will check out just fine!! Keep us posted!
