depression meds and weight gain
i have been on ceprelex for almost 2 years now....the first 6 months i had no weight gain. since then i have put on quite a bit of weight. i did boot camp for 6 months last winter and couldnt lose any weight. i did lose a few inches but not much.
has anyone had any luck losing weight while on depression medication? my doctor pretty much said i would have to come off them if i wanted to lose all the weight, its not an option to try and come off them right now.
I am up about 3 pant sizes right now and am not happy at all. its a constant struggle to try and not put on MORE weight.

I am sorry you have to deal with this. I didnt realize my weight gain was from depression meds until i came off them. I had lost 35lbs on WW then when on meds & gained back 20. Since i have come off them I have maintained. I havent tried to lose the 20 very hard.

i didnt realize it either, i researched it one night on the net and saw one of the side effects is weight gain and it all clicked for me. why i havent been able to take the weight off.

when i went in and talked to my doctor he wouldnt switch me to a different kind.
i am now trying to very slowly wean myself off of them. took half a pill this morning, will see how it goes

I've taken prozac on and off for over 10 years. I managed to lose a lot of weight while on it through diet.

I gained a ton of weight on medication and lost it all! It was all dieting and working out! STinks I never had a weight problem until I went on them!

ugh i have NEVER had a weight problem! even had problem gaining weight when i was pregnant with DD!!!
i have cut my dose in half. hoping to wean myself off of them.
I have lost 10lbs being back to work.
kicker was someone saying behind my back that i was preg. it was just heart breaking.
