Denim dye transfer

About a month ago, I bought a pair of Ralph Lauren jeans that I love. They fit me better than any jeans I've had in a long time and I'd love to go buy another pair. But, the first time I wore them, they turned my hands blue. I've now washed them at least 3-4 times and the die continues to come off on my hands. I've never experienced anything like it. I wore them yesterday again, and they still turned my hands really blue, until I would go wash them. (I looked like I has smurf hands or like I was dead!) When it first happened, I figured after I washed them it would stop - but now after several washes, its still happening. Is there anything I can use in the wash to make this stop. Has anyone ever experienced that and has it eventually gone away?

Thanks!

UGH. I had a pair of jeans like that. Unfortunately, like you, a really nice, well fitting pair that I loved. No manner of washing ever got rid of the dye transfer. I'd still get it into my head to wear them once every few months thinking "this time will be different!" Chat Icon Never was!

Maybe you can stick it out longer than me, but it must've been about a dozen times I washed them- hot water, cold water, different detergents. Nothing! I mean, mine weren't too expensive. Maybe you can go get the same cut in a different wash?? Sorry, I'm not much help! Chat Icon

I just emailed the company to see if they have any advice. I'll let you know. Maybe I will try the same style in a different wash, but I really love the dark wash ones that I bought.

Try washing them with a cup of vinegar. That sets the dyes.

Thanks. I will definitely try this! I got a response back from Ralph Lauren just saying to return them to the place where I bought them Chat Icon . If I didn't like the jeans for any other reason, I would return them, but when you find a pair that fits so perfectly, its hard to give up on them!
