Re: Holiday drama leads to DH wanting divorce

I am sorry you are dealing with this. Maybe there is more history here but divorce over splitting holidays seems a little (ok alot) extreme.

Was he just being dramatic?

Re: Holiday drama leads to DH wanting divorce

yeah there is def. more to it. His mom comes first. Doesnt work and we end up paying her rent, buyin her a car, paying her bills and supporting her habbit because he cant say no. Whatever i understand mom is mom but hello im your wife. We tried splitting the holidays but now his mom is hurt cuz my mom was here all day and his mom was here last nite only for a few hours.. can i help that no. but he seems to think things will never work out and our families will never get along and he doesnt want to bring our son into that. SO MOM WINS AGAIN!!

I'm sorry but that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. So by getting a divorce that is going to make it better? Wouldn't that split the holidays up more for your DS?

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this....maybe after the holidays he will come to his senses! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Holiday drama leads to DH wanting divorce

First off, I am sorry you are going through this right now. Secondly though, it sounds like both of you could probably benefit from marriage counseling. Your MIL sounds quite toxic for your relationship from the little bit you wrote about supporting her financially and "her habit". What's THAT about?! In any event, keep us posted. I hate to hear about anyone like this coming between a couple and their relationship, especially where children are involved.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I agree with you should try marriage counseling. If you do divorce, I think the holidays will be even harder on your son.
Again. I am sorry.Chat Icon

Re: Holiday drama leads to DH wanting divorce

Well that obviously is not the better situation for your son since it will lead to the holidays being even MORE split. Perhaps he was looking for a reason and is using this one. I would sit down and talk to him about it tomorrow when he has cooled off a bit. Chat Icon

Wow, your DH is suggesting divorce because of that? What?! It sounds like he said that out of anger, or if not, that it's just an excuse. I'm so sorry you are going through this at this time. Maybe try to talk to him after it blows over a bit.

I'm sorry, but dh is being a big baby. His argument doesn't even make sense. He'll be doing MORE harm to your baby by getting a divorce.

OMG I am so sorry. I think that there could be a compromise though...what about rotating the holidays and going to your parents one year and his the other? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Holiday drama leads to DH wanting divorce

That's just ridiculous-there must be more to that statement than just the holidays and I would get it out of him. People committed to their marriage and their wife (who is pregnant with their child!) should not be throwing that word around so lightly.
