Delaware River Tubing?
Has anyone done this with their kids? If so, is it incredibly boring, or did you have a good time?
There is a groupon right now, which is a pretty good deal ($14)

Re: Delaware River Tubing?
It depends where and time of year.
I grew up about 10 minutes from the Delaware River on the border of NY/NJ/PA and we would go rafting and tubing frequently.
There's not a ton of rapids or anything like that this time of year, but you still need to be on your guard and kids should always wear life jackets, because certain parts of the river it gets rougher in spots, and there's lots of big rocks and boulders.
I think it's definitely a worthwhile thing to do, though.
I am hoping to get a chance to do this later this summer.

Re: Delaware River Tubing?
We always went camping there and did the 10 mile canoeing trips down the river. I guess it depends where you go. The river is rough in some spots and may be too dangerous for young kids.

Delaware River Tubing?
My parents took my sister and I when we were younger... I'd say I was in 5th grade and my sister was in 3rd. It was one of the scariest things ever. The river was rough in spots and my sister and I would drift away very quickly from our parents, unintentionally of course. My mom found a rope floating by and had us hang onto it so we wouldn't separate. Eventually we all got out and walked the rest of the way with our tubes. My mom still talks about how it was one of the scariest moments in her life because we kept separating from them. I remember it as being scary. Years later I went rafting down the same river with camp and it was much better. I felt safer. Although when my sister took the same trip with camp the next day, something happened and they ended up stranded on the side of the river for hours and they all ended up with hypothermia and this was in the summer too!
We were staying in the Poconos at the time. When I was at camp, it was at the NY/NJ/PA border.

Yeah, depending on the ages of your kids, you might be better off just renting a raft, so you can all be together.
Plus, you can put more stuff in a raft ;).

Re: Delaware River Tubing?
I've only gone once & it was so peaceful. The water wasn't deep at all & actually, I scraped my butt on some rocks while tubing, it was so shallow. When I went, the water was very calm. If I were to go again, I would do a raft because the memory of the slimy rocks touching my skin is grossing me out now. If I brought my young kids with me, I wouldn't let them in their own tubes because I am paranoid & over protective.

It would depend on the kids' ages. With younger kids, I wouldn't let them in their own tube... I'd probably prefer rafting, like someone else mentioned.
