I lived there and give it an Eh. Very crowded on DOA and it is a PITA to have to make u-turns all the time. It is close to the highway and train though

i would live on the border of dix hills and deer park. dix hills schools - half hollow hills west i belive, but have a deer park address. my old coworker lives around there.

hmmm contrast how? Bad?
What I mean by that is that it sits adjacent to areas like Wyandanch/Brentwood which is not the greatest but to the north you have Dix Hills/Commack which is very nice areas. So I would say Deer Park is kind of in between that - nothing to be alarmed about...

It is OK, not great. DH grew up there & went to the high school. Again it's just OK. The outlets are beautiful & have really made things nicer, but still. It is close to other areas that are BAD.
If you live closer to Dix Hills it's nicer but plan to $$$ for that. The taxes for Half Hollow are up there.
