DD's dr wants me to start oatmeal and bananas
and Im not really sure how to go about doing this. Im guessing I shouldnt mix the 2 together because if she has a reaction I wont know which she is allergic to. He told me to feed her solids for breakfast and dinner so should i do oatmeal for breakfast and bananas for dinner? Also how many bottle's should I be giving her now thats she's going to be eating solids? Thanks girls and sorry if this sounds dumb but Im totally clueless!

I would do cereal first for a few days. If you mix together she may prefer the sweetness and expect it. I started out with 1 tbs. As your lo gets older they'll drop a bottle on their own solids shouldn't replace it now. Bm or formula is really the number 1 source for nutrition the first year.

Re: DD's dr wants me to start oatmeal and bananas
When you first start, the baby is going to be as clueless as you. So take it really slow, don't schedule it in right away. I found it too much pressure and too frustrating to feed solids on schedule till he really got the hang of moving food around and swallowing which took about a week.
The first week, I just sat his down when he was in a really good mood, at least 1 hour before his next bottle/nursing, but you don't want it to interfere with milk intake. Just for practice. Cereal is great because you can make it thinner or thicker based on what baby likes. Try it different ways.
When your baby can handle thicker cereal, then I'd move on to bananas. And only then, I would schedule solids 1 hour after bottles.
Some babies take to solids with no problem, some are slower at it. Go at your baby's pace. The doctor is just giving recommendations not orders.
