DD's 12 month appt and some questions...
So DD had her 12 month appt today - and she was 20 lbs 1 oz (can't believe it since she was 9 lbs 4ozs at birth!) and 29 inches (she was 20 at birth). So the Ped said she is exactly 50% for height and weight.
Poor thing started teething again on Sunday and is uncomfortable - the ped says there are two definite teeth on top coming in and one he thinks is also pushing thru, and she fought so hard we couldn't look at the bottom ones so i don't know if there are more on bottom coming in too.
He told me to switch over to all milk immediately - but I thought I read on here that wasn't the best idea -Can anyone tell me what they ped said about weaning them to the milk from formula and BM (she only BF 1 or 2 times a day now) and how much whole milk should she drink a day? (what is the max amount of ozs?) I know I should only give whole milk - but he wasn't very helpful as to any of the other specifics.
Etd to add - she does fine with cheese and yogurt but was drinking the sensitive/lactose free formula b.c the regular made her extremely gassy - will I have a problem with the milk?
TIA!!

Re: DD's 12 month appt and some questions...
I started Milan on whole milk 2 weeks ago. What i did was give him one bottle of milk one day and the 2 days later 2 bottles of milk. Cutting out one bottle of formula each day. He took to it well. But he eats almost everything you put near his mouth anyway as long as it is not peas. I think you can start of with half milk half formula and then gradually decrease the formula and give her milk. if she had no reaction to cheese or yogurt than she should be fine. Try organic milk first.

Great!! Yes I planned on giving organic milk - I like the way you did it - maybe I will try replacing one bottle at first and if she has problems than I will try instead to mix the formula and milk. Yes she is a very small eater but usually most days loves her yogurt.

I switched him immediately, but because we discovered his sensitivity to milk was causing his ear infections.
He drinks organic Goat milk. I have to have it delivered to the house... so much for milk being cheaper than formula

Re: DD's 12 month appt and some questions...
I just went to DS 12 month visit today myself.
How to transition to milk?
Ped told me to give whole milk. Start with 1/4 whole milk and 3/4 formula. Then slowly increasy 1/2 and 1/2 and then 3/4 milk 1/4 formula then whole milk.
No more than 32 oz of milk per day. Usually 14-24 oz per day is sufficient.
ETA: how to know if DC is allergic? Look for diarhea, constipation, hives.
