Re: DD is having a friend sleepover tonight
I would probably want to meet you but I'm also pretty sure my 10 year old would want me to leave as quickly as possible. (not that her opinon counts).

Re: DD is having a friend sleepover tonight
I see your point but I dont necessarily find it all that odd..
Where I live you kind of get to know people by association..this girl plays with that girl etc.
You know that "Mary" is a picky Mom who packs her kids only health snacks and wont let her kids watch The Fairly Odd Parents and her kids play with "Jane's" kinds so you feel OK when "Jane's" daughter calls your daughter for a play date...
Maybe you just have an awesome reputation and the Mom felt comfortable dropping off her daughter.

Re: DD is having a friend sleepover tonight
I have a 9 1/2 year old and I have to say I think its big time weird. We only do sleepovers at a few selective homes, where I know the parents really well and I am comfortable with who else may be in the home (i.e. tennagers, animals, etc..)
My daughter gets invited to alot of sleepovers and when we don't know the parents well, our rule is she can go for the party part and than we pick her up at ten or so and tell the family that we have something early to do in the morning.
I am constantly amazed at how easily people will drop their kids off for the night at a home where they have never had a conversation with the parents.
With regard to the reveres side of the equation, I also only let kids sleep over my house, whom I know really well.
Hope it went well.

Re: DD is having a friend sleepover tonight
I used to teach religion classes from my home. You wouldn't believe how many parents would just drop their children (and I'm talking 6 years old) at the curb and drive off without even seeing who I was. Things like this make you go

Re: DD is having a friend sleepover tonight
Seems very weird to me. Does the girl have any allergies, habits, dos or don'ts? When our DC start doing sleepovers, I'd at least want to know some of the overall guidelines of the house. If it's OK in that house to watch rated R movies with the kids, I'm not OK with that. If DS takes his vitamins right before bed, I want them to be aware of that. Even if you are comfortable with the host parent, you still need to convey any kind of issues to be aware of.

I would think that was weird too. My daughter is 8 1/2 and I don't think I would like a parent just dropping them off and not even talking to me!

Re: DD is having a friend sleepover tonight
Well if I already know the mom then I guess it's ok but if I don't know the mom and have never had the child over then yes I would like to know who they are before hand.
