DC's first night away from home
So I asked my sister to take Victoria for the night on Saturday. I know I need to do this with DD being 8 months now and my sister and my niece are so excited. (I should let you know when my niece was born my sister was very free with me going out with my niece when she was an infant and I was in my early 20's).
I completely trust my sister with DD but I know I am going to probably panic with not having DD home.
I am looking forward to: - hopefully having a date with DH (depending on his schedule) - seeing a movie - getting some sleep (hopefully!) - CLEANING the house! - making some more baby food - taking a shower for half an hour!
You would think all of that would keep my mind busy but I'm already getting panicky and it's only Tuesday night
How did you guys get through it???????

Re: DC's first night away from home
I think that's great that she's spending the night there.
Let me know how it goes - I"m still too chicken to even think of a night without him in this house. My parents would gladly take him for a night.
Hmmm....maybe I'll have him go there this weekend - doesn't sound like such a bad idea now that I'm typing it.
AHHHHH A good nights sleep!

Re: DC's first night away from home
Two weekends ago Troy spent his first night away from home w/o us, at MIL's. He did GREAT! MIL said he woke once during the night, but took a bottle and went right back down.
DH had to work, and did not get home until 1am, so no date for us. I did stay up until he got home (I never stay up that late anymore) and though we did not get woken up by our "built-in alarm clock" (DS) we both woke up about 2 times/night and woke up at 7am feeling lost! How sad!
We're hoping to do that again this coming weekend, in preparation for a wedding we have in April when DS will be staying w/ MIL.

Re: DC's first night away from home
We left Ava overnight for the first time when she was only 3 weeks old. It was our first anniversary and we really wanted to celebrate. It was hard. I think it's harder as they get older, actually, because they know when you're not there. My advice is to accept how you're feeling and acknowledge that it's going to be hard, but don't back out because of it, and don't wait too long to do it again. Once you step in that hot shower and realize you can stay as long as you'd like, you'll forget about feeling bad, even if it's just for an hour.

Re: DC's first night away from home
I would love to send my son away for the night so my husband and I could have sex in the kitchen and stuff. But I have no one to send him to!
Don't get panicky! Just think how lucky you are to be able to do that!"!!!

Once you have that time to yourself you will love it! When you see how much fun your sister and niece have with her you will be glad you did it.....and it will be easier next time to ask for a night here and there

Boy, that sounds just like my DH last night I want the date - he wants the wild sex
Send him to us for a night if you want! If I handle this weekend okay - maybe we can trade off once in awhile!

Re: DC's first night away from home
I think it's great and I'm sure she'll have a good time. It's understandable that you're nervous. The first time we left Ben with my IL's for the night, we missed him so much by 9PM that we wanted to go get him.

Re: DC's first night away from home
You said it yourself. You trust your sister. She will be fine. I'm sure Terri will call you if anything happens. Which it WON'T!! Enjoy the night off!! Get some rest. Tell Chris to get home early! You will do fine!!!

ITA...we left DD with my mom and dad when she was about 7 weeks, for our 1st anniversary. I felt wierd, but the nice dinner, the long shower the next morning...I loved it. Of course once I got out of hte shower, I was missing her!
We left again a month later for the weekend...my best friend got married in PA and I was MOH. Friday was a nice break, Saturday we were busy and having fun, but by Sunday we couldnt' get home fast enough!!!
But I think it's good for us and for her as well...but it's harder now because she knows we're not there, and she gets more fun as she gets older, so it's harder for me too!!
