Daycare-Related
If you have looked in to daycare - what do they charge per hour? Or do they only charge 1/2 day and whole day rates? Just curious. I know that rates will be different based on where you live (I'm in CT). But a friend of mine works at a daycare down the street from me and they only charge $4.50 an hour! I almost fell off my chair when she told me that! Isn't that insanely cheap?

In in CT too. The daycares we looked at were large centers. We were looking for full time care, but I'm pretty sure the centers don't charge by the hour. The ones we looked at ranged from $260/week - $365/week.

Wow it's not too often to run into another LIFer in CT! Where in CT are you? I am from Norwalk but living in Bristol. For the daycare that my friend works at it for 40 hrs a week (at most since DH is a teacher and gets out before me) at $4.50 an hour is $180! How can you beat that?! I am going to check the place out to make sure it's clean but my friend brings her 2 kids there and she is a major germaphobe!

I'm in the Hartford area, but I lived in SoNo for a few years. You can always check out the CT Dpeartment of Public Health's website. They have a list of all licensed daycares in the state. $180 is a great rate. The daycare we chose is expensive, but we needed one that was open until at least 6 p.m., which seems pretty hard to find in CT. Good luck with the daycare search.

Re: Daycare-Related
Every caregiver/center charges differently. Our center in NJ is $1295 per month this year for infants five days a week from 7:15 am - 6:15 pm. There are no half-day rates extended day rates.
