Daycare Personal Review - Ronkonkoma

I know it is hard picking a daycare for your LO, especially when they are SO young. I have to say, that I am truly lucky. My DS goes to Tutor Time on Carroll Ave. in Ronkonkoma since he was 8 weeks old. From the first time that I went to interview them, I felt at ease leaving. It is a horrible feeling when people ask who is watching your son and when you say daycare…you get the face. BUT honestly, I couldn’t be happier. They are wonderful ladies in the infant room and I like the interaction that he gets with the other children. We did have an opportunity for him to go to someone’s home and it would have been much cheaper but I felt he would not receive the same exposure. There is no TV for the caretakers to watch so the focus is on your child. Even though they don’t understand at this age, they read a book everyday and do a few activities. One recommendation that I would have is to set up a one on one meeting with the teachers on off hours so you could go over your child’s likes/dislikes and what is expected from them. Our first day was rough but it was due to lack of knowledge. What I have learned…is to SPEAK up. And yes, they will get sick. I am looking at it as if it is building up his immune system (well that is what I tell myself) to make the situation a little easier.

Good luck to everyone who has to return back to work and daycare is the only option.

We go there too. I love the teachers. They love DD. I even love the Director there.

I hate getting the look too. I work nights and it's assumed I would just never sleep... Hell to the no! I'm not made that way. And I sleep just fine during the day, knowing she's there. They are truly like family. They were even excited when she started walking... "She's so close, so close to her first steps!"

Daycare Personal Review - Ronkonkoma

Oh I'm so glad you posted this. DS is almost 2 and goes to full time daycare but I am considering switching him to this one in the fall because it's closer to home. We are going on a tour next week.

And don't let anyone make you feel bad for putting your child in daycare. My DS has been in daycare since he was 12 weeks old and I got those looks too. We do what is best for our kids and he truly LOVES going to "school".
