Day things to do in central Jersey?
I'm driving my daughter and her friends to the Somerset area to take the SAT's on Saturday. We're actually staying Friday night since the test is at 7:45 am. We'd like to do something fun after but I know nothing about NJ.
Aside from Great Adventure, does anyone know of anything fun to do there with teens? How far is Jenkinsons and the shore and what is that like?

what type of activities were you thinking of?
fun and exciting... like six flags
or mellow and educational... like revolutionary historical sites.
how much farther are you willing to drive, if at all?

Was hoping for something outdoors since it will be a nice weekend, but relaxed (not six flags). Willing to drive an hour or so from where we will be.
They are 17 so a little old for Skyzone type places.

there are a lot of outdoor things to see, but most are low key. so if they want to walk around parks where historical battles were fought?
washington crossing is a beautiful park (on both sides of the delaware). that's where i used to train for my marathon... oh, how i miss it.
there's also the location where the imaginary alien invasion took place in the radio version of war of the world.
you'll also be very close to princeton. might give them some inspiration... there are lovely parks, museums in that area as well.
there's also heading down to the shore... could be a nice, relaxing afternoon for decompressing after all the studying and enjoying the last of this summer.
yes, the things that come to mind are low-key stuff... that's the kind of stuff i'm into lol

Grounds of Sculpture look cool.
Pier Village in Long Branch is awesome too. Cute stores, yummy restaurants, pretty beach.
