Day Care Toilet
My son is 2 1/2 and moved up to a new classroom a few weeks ago. Last week when I picked him up I noticed he was sitting on the rim (the part us mommy's always have to clean due to dribbles) of the toilet seat. Not only was he sitting on that but he had to hold on there as well! I find this absolutely disgusting! 
When I approached the classroom teacher and assistant about it, they stated all the boys sit on the rim as they don't always "tuck" and pee on the rim or out of the toilet. When I expressed my concern and disgust, the teacher replied "It's clean." I don't care what the teacher says, there is no way it is possibly clean. The girls sit on the potty seat, and we all know sometimes girls spray a bit too.
DS has been fully potty trained for six months, but I admit that yes, sometimes DS does get pee on the toilet once in a while. With all the toilet training that goes in, I feel the classroom bathroom should be wiped down multiple times anyway.
Thankfully DS has a bath every night. Does anyone else's daycare do this? Do you think this is a big deal? What should I do about it? Would you discuss with the office manager or owner? Sorry this is so long, and thank you in advance for your advice!

Not a big deal IMO.
My DS touches much more things along the day and at least after the bathroom his hands would be washed.

I think that is weird and disgusting. It is maladaptive - who actually sits on the rim to pee?? I don't understand that other than it's easier for the day care not to have to clean the seat. I would talk to the director about it.

Not really a big deal, I know its gross but I will give the daycare the benefit of the doubt and assume they keep it clean. If you feel uncomfortable, I would ask and I don't see any harm in asking their cleaning procedures if there is a bit of dribble and if they enforce hand washing.
Kids are exposed to far more that we would like to think.. and as a germophobe, it freaks me out to even think about it but its ok.

Definitely gross but probably better than any public restroom.
I will find DS sitting on the rim at our house and I find that absolutely disgusting as well.

When going through potty training, I learned that I needed to lower my germophobe instincts. I don't think it's a big deal.

Do you mean the rim of the toilet seat or that the toilet seat was up and he was sitting on the rim of the actual bowl? Either way, I agree that it isn't a big deal as long as he is diligently washing his hands afterwards. I'm not sure what else the day care can do to make it more clean.

I worked at a daycare, and while I was one of the "germaphobe" teachers, I found it crazy that most children had no idea how to properly wash their hands. No, I never had a child sit on the inside rim of the bowl, and I actually considered the toddle bathrooms fairly clean, but it used to drive me crazy with the hand washing. I'm sure you already do this, but make sure he's washing his hands properly, and then I wouldn't worry as much.

Gross, and it's teaching them to use the toilet that way. What happens when you go to a public restroom and he sits on it like that?

Sitting on the toilet rim is disgusting and it's for their convenience.
I agree about the hand washing. Daycare kids get sick with coxsackie, stomach viruses, infection, and other interesting things. Hand washing needs to be taught over and over

Thank you all for your advice. I did decide to speak to the owner, who stated she was unaware this was happening, and would rectify with classroom teachers.
My son has been stating the past two weeks that he is "mad" at his teacher, because "She is mean." "She makes me go potty." So this might be why he has been upset.
Hopefully this will be cleared up easily.
