Re: Day 3 transfer vs Day 5 transfer
In my case i had a 3 day transfer because I only had 4 fertilized embryos. Because we only had 4 they opted to get one inside to let it start cooking. Sometimes the 3 day embryos don't make it to 5 day blasts so they want to secure as many as possible. On day 3 they will tell you which embryo they are transferring. You want to hear that it is a 7-9 cell embryo. That means it is dividing well. I got pregnant after my first fresh 3 day transfer!!! Good Luck!!!!
Did they say anything about your little embryos when you spoke to them? Ie how many you have

Re: Day 3 transfer vs Day 5 transfer
glad to hear a success story...
that's the thing...so the message i got was that 11 were fertilized (out of 21) and to come back on saturday for the transfer. When i called back for more information, my nurse told me that they like to have more than 8 to do a 5 day transfer and despite me having 11, my doctor made the decision. Unfortunatley he was gone for the day, so i have to wait until tomorrow to talk to him.
I am wondering if maybe although 11 fertilized, not that many are dividing well. with having 21 eggs retrieved, if less than 8 are good, i'm thinking that's not that great of an outcome...
just hope they put the best of the best back...

Day 3 transfer vs Day 5 transfer
Just to put things into perspective we had 10 eggs and 8 fertilized. By day 5 we had one embie that was a blaysts(sp?) none made it to freezing. I'm 6w pregnant today Don't stress. They know how to do this and they are trying to give you the best chances of getting your baby. Good luck!

Day 3 transfer vs Day 5 transfer
Im currently 22wks and I had a 3 day transfer. I read so much about how a 5dt was better, and was so upset after that phone call telling us we were having a 3dt. I had 17 eggs retrieved. 1/2 were with ICSI. Out of the 17 the only ones that fertilized were 6 ICSI. When I got there for the transfer we only had 2 left. We transferred those 2, and one of them thankfully picked me to be their Mommy! GOOD LUCK!

Re: Day 3 transfer vs Day 5 transfer
I had a 5 day transfer 7 days ago. I also had 11 fertilize so they decided to push me to day 5. Well they transferred the "best 2" and the other 9 didnt make it.. I am bummed!
My 1st fresh I had a 3 day transfer b/c I had 8 embryos and they told me the same thing. They didn't want to take any chances.
Now they took a chance and I have none in the freezer.
I am in my 2ww week and hoping for a miracle!
Good Luck!

Agree with...You definitely want your embryos to have 7-9 cells. You could have some that may not make it to day 5 (dividing slowly etc)so if that's the case your womb is the best place for them.

Day 3 transfer vs Day 5 transfer
I had 7 cells and some 8 and they didn't make it. I would just say that everyone is different and to try and stay focused on the fact your dr is making the best decision for you!

Re: Day 3 transfer vs Day 5 transfer
I had a 5 day transfer last year and it failed, but I am now 5 weeks pregnant from a 3 day transfer. I was also worried about it when we were told a 3 day, but it looks like the doctors knew what they were doing! For what it is worth, some doctors believe that the embryos do better in their natural environment.
Good Luck!!!!!

This was me. 28 eggs retrieved 18 fertilized 2 blasts transferred at 5 days. None left to freeze. Thankfully I ended up with my DD. My old RE explained that you really shouldn't harp on the 3dt vs 5dt. Some embryos do best in their natural environment so just because they do a 3dt doesn't mean that you have less chance of success. This was told to be by Dr. Tortoriello. Good luck!!

Day 3 transfer vs Day 5 transfer
We did both. The first time, we had a lot of eggs, but quality was an issue. We did a 5dt. Next time, we had a lot of eggs and did a 3dt - quality still not that good. Sometimes they say a 3dt is good because they are in their natural environment.

Re: Day 3 transfer vs Day 5 transfer
I did a 5dt which resulted in a chemical. Next cycle we opted beforehand to do a 3dt before even knowing quailty/number and I got a BFP that cycle and now have a 14monh old DD! Good Luck!! 3dt can and do work!

<-------- She is a 3 day transfer! And we transferred 3 embryos - the highest of which was a 6 cell Grade B. Think POSITIVE!!
