Re: DavenJess
and now i have tears in my eyes that you asked...thank you for the concern..sincerely, i'm touched...
I tested again on Saturday night and had none (i also drank a full gallon of water that day and boatloads yesterday). I tested with between trace and none yesterday and today.
We're seeing the Maternal Fetal Specialist tomorrow - so i am keeping a list of questions for her..as i have MANY... To be frank - if i never talk to the people at the Diabetes Center again, i'll be a happier person. Long story short - the nutritionist rushed me through her presentation part and made me so confused, i wept for 3 hours after the appointment (and if it weren't for the support of you girls here, i would be CLUELESS as to what i can or cannot eat).
mentally today - i'm feeling down/depressed/sad/angry... One of the things the lady at the Diabetes Center told me was that i cannot sleep late on the weekends (which is when i normally catch up on missed sleep during the week)...because we supposedly make more sugar when sleeping...so today - i feel like i could pass out from exhaustion. i'm so tired, i could literally cry about it... Just putting together my snacks, etc for the day today had me upset that it was taking so much energy.
i'm hopeful tomorrow will be a better day - as we see the specialist and then go to see my SIL who is being induced...(although the specialist could tell me that i'm going on insulin and then i'll just keel over)...

Re: DavenJess
Well it sounds like you needed to increase your water intake so that is good!
Write down all your questions for the specialist appointment and take your time answering them. If your nutritionist is blowing you off or making you frustrated ask the maternal fetal specialist for a recomendation on a new one!
As for not sleeping in on the weekends, ask if its ok if you wake up at a certain time and have a snack and go back to sleep.....If not try and schedule a nap on the weekends!
Sleep is also really important and if you start to get "run down" or "sick" that can start throwing your blood sugar numbers off as well!

I am absolutely going to talk to the specialist about a nutritionist. One of my friends was like, ya know....looking at you & I (we're both plus sized), it's not like someone can think we don't like food...so for her to RUSH you through what is the MOST IMPORTANT part of this (what you can and cannot eat) is disgusting...and the more i think about it, my friend is right - it really was quite inappropriate & rude. If you don't have the time for me - ask if i can come back...but don't rush me through this.
I definitely think i had to increase on the water...so thank you for that tidbit...again, it was not mentioned to me what to drink AT ALL...let alone how much...
i just feel so down and then i start to feel guilty because the baby has to be feeling how negative i feel and then that just makes me want to cry, etc...it's quite the downward spiral...

Try not to be so hard on yourself, You can't expect to be diagnosed with GD adn know everythign adn fix everythign overnight!!!
Think of it this way, you are already doing things much better then before you were diagnosed which is better for you and baby! SO be happy about that! It will take time to master and that is ok! What is important is that you are trying hard and making a conscious effort! Try adn stay focused on what is positive and good, it will be better fo ryou and baby!!

Re: DavenJess
i am trying to take solace in the good things - really & honestly. I'm trying to exercise during the week (this weekend, i seriously did NOT have the energy)...using my wii fit - so maybe i am burning fat and that's why the ketones are coming up...so as you said - i am eating healthier than i ever have in my WHOLE LIFE...and that's a good thing.
i keep telling myself that i'll get it...and i really do, for the most part...if i weren't so tired, i really think i'd be okay...
i also think it's all hitting me at once, exhaustion, horrid cystic acne, the GD thing...it's a lot...(at least for me)..and then the guilt for feeling this way...
